Re:

[edit]

Yeah that's true. We can use the image of St Aloysius Chapel. Karnataka page is already tight for new images. I guess somehow we have to make space for this image. Gnanapiti 00:29, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dinesh, good to see you again...It's good to be back doing DYK after the recent incidents. Anyway, good to see you using DYK to get onto the main page and good luck with the latest FAC on Western Ganga! Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:38, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Significant Milestone in Portal:Karnataka

[edit]

Efforts on Karnataka WikiProject and Karnataka Portal have resulted in a major milestone today. We have now 50 Karnataka related DYKs contributed to Wikipedia. Several of them are from you. Great going, and indeed a significant achievement. Thank YOU and Congratulations!!!

You can see all of them here: Portal:Karnataka/Did you know/List of Featured DYKs related to Karnataka - KNM Talk 19:16, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kannadigas and Telugus

[edit]

Dear Mr. Kannambadi,

Though you may not know me, I thought I could convey to you a piece of my mind. I constantly come across your edits to articles related to Telugu/Andhra Pradesh. Its clear and obvious to many that whats happening between you, User:Gnanapiti, User:Kumarrao is nothing but an "Edit War."

Believe me, I always had an impression that Kannadigas were amongst the best behaved people in India. Please don't make me change that. Kannadigas and Telugus have co-existed together not for years but centuries. Kannadigas ruled over the Telugus and vice-versa. Kannadigas have settled in Andhra Pradesh and vice-versa (incl. myself). We share most of our alphabets. With all this history of peaceful co-existence why do all of you take pains, waste precious time, to prove one's language as superior to the others. It is endless and worst of all, serves no purpose. One should respect all languages. But what intrigues me the most is why Kannadigas and Telugus should fight. Kannadigas have probably been the best neighbours for Telugus and I belive, also vice-versa. There have been some exceptions like Almatti, but the relationship is so thick that it can't vanish, just like that. What do you feel? Correct me if I'm wrong. Your opinions or criticisms are welcome. Thanking You, AltruismTo talk 06:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good Faith

[edit]

User:Kumarrao does not appear as unreasonable as you claim. Anyways, I hope that you have been doing and would do edits in good faith. I also hope the "Edit War"/misunderstanding ends amicably. Thanks for the good wishes. Thanks and Best Wishes. --AltruismTo talk 11:57, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, exactly what I wanted to convey. Regards, AltruismTo talk 12:02, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

KA

[edit]

Dinesh, I am not able to fit all the images/pie-charts related to demography in a proper fashion in the article because the text in that section is very less. I have finally arrived at some format, please feel free to modify it if it is not OK -- Amarrg 17:11, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Yes, I'm doing that. I'll bring down the number of references to 50 and size of the article to around 50-55 KB. Gnanapiti 22:11, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unification of Karnataka

[edit]

Well, my only problem is that Sarvagnya said he also wanted to add text. The OR and weasel words relate to content issues, and it wouldn't be appropriate to be adding content that could potentially relate to these tags. Nishkid64 (talk) 00:14, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There were at least two broken tags actually. I'm glad to hear about the rest, though.--Rmky87 00:45, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks You

[edit]

Please go ahead and block me from wikipedia. nio issues.. but can you block my intension, my heart...Tulu war 04:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I dont have time for your intentions and heart.Dineshkannambadi 11:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kadamba Dynasty

[edit]

The IP and the user are definitely the same person. I've left a warning on Kroger2005's talk page. Keep me updated. Nishkid64 (talk) 17:24, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Culture

[edit]

Dinesh, there is a confusing thing in culture section in Karnataka. A paragraph starts with the sentence The Chandrasala stage was founded in Mysore in 1881. But there is no introduction for Chandrasala stage anywhere. Frankly speaking even I'm unaware of Chandrasala stage. Can you spend some time on fixing that part? Gnanapiti 20:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template

[edit]

Actually we haven't added Keladi Nayaka in the template! Adding Keladi Nayaka will cover both Ikkeri and Keladi IMO. We can add Amoghavarsha too. Gnanapiti 02:23, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me know your opinion before I go ahead and make changes. Gnanapiti 05:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We still have lot of space left in History section of the template. Adding new articles is not a problem at all. Gnanapiti 15:46, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

you deserve this!

[edit]
The Epic Barnstar
Great work on karnataka history. i hope there were 30 more of you that i can allocate one each to each indian state. Though sometimes, i don't agree with some of the works that you cite or the inferences, this award is in recognition to the tireless efforts made to bring FA level articles. Great going and keep this ticking. Kalyan 16:50, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
as my note title says, no need to thank me, you truly deserved this one. that said, wait an hour and you are gonna curse me - i am reviewing the FAC for western ganga dynasty. Cheers --Kalyan 17:23, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lakshminarayana Temple (Hosaholalu)

Karnataka seems to be taking over wikipedia!!!! It always seems to appear in DYK'S! Must have a lot of clever people! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:20, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please elaborate then if there are more that one temple with the same name -please list them on the Lakshminarayana Temple page thanks. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:51, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template in Ganga

[edit]

Dinesh, the template of Western Ganga Kings seems not in proper alignment. Or is it only me that having problem? I wanted to go ahead and fix the template, but wanted to check with some other users before doing that. Gnanapiti 16:35, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basava

[edit]

Hi Dinesh, I uploaded Basavanna's image and added that to Basava article. I'll try to find some other images too. Gnanapiti 04:30, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:KA

[edit]

Actually the reason I gave the link as For more details see :bla bla is, the main article only concerns with that particular paragraph and not the entire section. I took example from some other FA article (which I don't remember now, will give you the link once I recall). Let me know your opinion. Gnanapiti 06:22, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Medieval ....

[edit]

Hi Dinesh, I think the introduction to article is somewhat vague. We need to define what does the article heading stand for i.e. what is the meaning of "medieval" in that context. May be by specifying the time period to which the article is referring. Gnanapiti 03:46, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

[edit]

I uploaded Kanaka Dasa's image from there and added to Kanaka Dasa. Other two links have more than one image in those pages, so just wanted to make sure which image of those images you want me to upload. Gnanapiti 04:56, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dinesh, I have uploaded both the images you mentioned and added them to Chavundaraya and Purandara Dasa articles. Gnanapiti 15:28, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kamats are OK with using their pictures as long as we give proper credit to their site in articles. But I'm not sure what license I can use in wikipedia for images of coins and such. Let me find out licensing thing and will inform you. Gnanapiti 19:57, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

for myself- a reminder

[edit]

To the existing citation #16, please add additional citation from below. E.P. Rice, "History of Kannada literature", 2nd edition (revised), Asian Educational Services, New Delhi, 1982 (Google search[1]) - page #13

remove existing citation #24 (unclear),#25 (because it appears as a sentence elsewhere) and add this "Inscriptions, place names and manuscripts prove that the regions such as Kholapur and Sholapur were at one time Kannada spoken areas, where Marathi is now spoken." E.P. Rice, "History of Kannada literature", 2nd edition (revised), Asian Educational Services, New Delhi, 1982 (Google search[2]) - page #12. In the Literature section to the sentence, "The writing refers to the entire area between the Kaveri River and Godavari River as Kannada country, implying the language was popular further north in present day Maharashtra" add citations (Sastri 1955, p355) and E.P. Rice, "History of Kannada literature", 2nd edition (revised), Asian Educational Services, New Delhi, 1982 (Google search[3]) - page #12 Dineshkannambadi 01:24, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Karnataka in WP:India Peer Review

[edit]

Dinesh,
FYI - Karnataka article is now subjected to India Wikiproject peer review. See here: Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Peer review/Karnataka

Do you think, we should also be listing the article under general Peer Review, in WP:PR page.? - KNM Talk 18:03, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I already listed there. Gnanapiti 18:06, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reply: Dinesh, It has been listed in both the places now. However, they are not parallel reviews. Both the listings point to same page, which is Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Peer review/Karnataka.
Also, looking at WP:PR page, I learnt that, even if we dont list in the general PR, a bot will list it automatically picking it up from specific WikiProjects. I hope this clarifies. - KNM Talk 19:32, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to tell you that I am extremely impressed with the work of Kannada users on wikipedia -very. Your work is a delight to read -beautiful articles. Congrats Dinesh. You've been terrific. Gnanapiti 17:59, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Too much, Dinesh, clap, clap, clap, this has become a regularity, keep up the good work!!! -- Amarrg 14:08, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We are doing this so often that I think we should make a {{DK-FA}} template to just congratulate you. We can then simply transclude it onto your page and be done. Congrats and thanks. :) Sarvagnya 16:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do not stoop so low

[edit]

1. I have cited valid references which are quoted and cited by you many times in Wiki.

2. Who is Sarvabhaum? How am I connected to him? Is this your honesty and integrity?

3. What did you mean by soliciting? Show me one evidence. In fact, there are plenty of evidences in Wiki that you, Gnanapiti and Sarvagna etc., are collaborating with each other to silence other Users.

Whatever little respect I had for your scholarship has now vanished because of your chauvanism. You are an absolute fanatic. I am extremely sad to make this statement. Kumarrao 19:05, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
