I'm making too much mistakes.

[edit]

The bulk of my edits are from adding pages to categories that shouldn't even exist. Sorry for any inconvenience I might have caused while I was here. Maybe when I can think about what I've been doing wrong, I may consider rejoining, but for now I'm leaving. Bye!

Please don't feel discouraged. While being bold is certainly welcome, making large-scale changes such as adding every type of a particular article to a newly-created category may conflict with existing consensus. In the future, until you have some more editing experience under your belt, I would recommend asking at the appropriate discussion space (in this case, the talk page of WP:USRD) to determine if such a category would be helpful toward making the encyclopedia more easy to navigate. Thanks! --Kinu t/c 20:49, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recent categorization

[edit]

I applaud your enthusiasm, however, I will note that the two categories created above will end up being deleted, and all of your edits to categorize articles into those categories will be reverted. Your edit count will not decrease, but your work will be for naught. You will have wasted other contributors' time dealing with the deletion discussion and reversions.

Edit count is not the best metric to use to grade an editor's contributions to Wikipedia. Rather, in most cases, the quality of the contributions is a better measure of the worth of an editor. Take a look at WP:USRD/NEW for some ideas on how to contribute to highway articles. There are many Stub- and Start-Class articles that can use expansion. If you're interested in creating maps, we have a tutorial on how to create and link KML files from articles, and once those are created, we could show you how to convert them to the map data file used for the interactive infobox maps. These activities are valuable and helpful. They're also much appreciated over adding unneeded categories to articles. Imzadi 1979  21:19, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia requested photographs in United States

[edit]

FYI the reason Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in United States didn't exist is because it's at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in the United States - usually if an "obvious" category like that doesn't exist then it's because you've made a typo or similar.Le Deluge (talk) 12:29, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Wild Things (organization) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of passing WP:GNG or WP:ORG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — MarkH21talk 09:48, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Latin script article

[edit]

Could you please add at least one source to this article? Since the letter won't show up correctly in my browser, I can't verify if it exists and is real. Thanks in advance. buidhe 19:28, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Anti-Indian sentiment, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Native Americans (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

opinion

[edit]

Not sure why you think it’s one sided. I put alleged because no one can agree if there was or not. If I put unfounded or something like that I’d agree. I just started editing some things but I’m not going to anymore because it seems everything is so divided from A to Z, people can’t even agree on grammar in the articles. Good luck to all. 198.183.179.81 (talk) 16:25, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Port Elizabeth. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Your AIV Report

[edit]
@Ad Orientem: What would I use instead? "Gender critical?" Though it seems like this term is not widespread among the group itself, and generally in common discourse I tend to observe the same acronym I used most often. HighwayTyper (talk) 00:16, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't heard the same criticism of the term gender critical, but am not overly familiar with it. However, I am aware that the term you used is almost exclusively employed by those on the other side of this hot button issue, and that it is widely considered offensive by those towards whom it is directed. Best to find some other less charged manner of expressing oneself. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:27, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ponyo: Hol' up? WDYM "confirmed" socking? I don't have any sockpuppet accounts! I promise. I'm so confused as to what exactly's going on. If it's about the Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth moving thing, I already learned my lesson and served my (temporary) punishment. HighwayTyper (talk) 23:32, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh...

[edit]

Well, goodbye everyone. I never committed sockpuppetry no matter what anyone says, but I guess there's no convincing anyone. Looks like I have no choice but to quit Wikipedia forever. I'm not going to create another account because that would be real sockpuppetry/block evasion. Hope I was able to improve the encyclopedia and edit well during my time here.
