Heya
Hi Tony,
You said that you wanted to be notified when I was up for another Request for Bureaucratship... well, I am now. It's at Wikipedia:Requests_for_bureaucratship/Linuxbeak_(2). Thanks! Alex Schenck (that's Linuxbeak to you) 14:06, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi again!
Hi, long time no talk. To tell you the truth I've been less than pleased with wiki as of late and that's one of the major reasons I haven't been on here much. I realize that as a public access encyclopedia anyone can write pretty much what they want but I think I'm too old to be getting into "edit wars" especially when the info in question is more than clear. These entries for actors Mario Cimarro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Cimarro) and Cesar Evora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9sar_%C3%89vora) are prime examples. I have repeatedly explained to the person that they are both very much Cuban actors since they were born and raised in Cuba to Cuban parents but they refuse to acknowledge this fact. Instead they insist that now they are to be considered strictly Mexican actors since they are now residing in Mexico. This makes absolutely no sense. Mexican actor in the intro clearly refers to either a Mexican born person or a person who's heritage/parents are Mexican. It's beyond silly to change every bio's intros to reflect the current nationality of a person. What if JLo moves to China? Will we refer to her as a chinese actress? Or do we change the intros every time a person moves and becomes a national somewhere else? This makes no sense. They are both Cuban actors and the intros should state so. Then in the bio itself it should explain that they have relocated to Mexico and become Mexican citizens. But to flat out state they are Mexican actors is plain wrong. I'm too old for this. Wiki is supposed to educate people but blatant misinformation or trying to deceive people this way is just wrong. Regardless I thank you for being so nice while I've been here. I've enjoyed talking with you. Do take care! Mailyn 14:51, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Cacique Hayuya
- Removed coat of arms of the city of Jayuya, The article is about the cacique Hayuya and not about the town
About this edit that you made... I thought that, since the cacique is represented in Jayuya's coat of arms, it would be useful for people to see the Coat of Arms itself. Anyway, perhaps its better to have nothing distracting from the main theme in such a small article. Saludos! Thief12 22:07, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Block
I got your e-mail about the block I made. It turns out the user I had blocked was using AOL, and had the same IP address as you. Seeing as I have not blocked this specific IP number by name, I cannot undo it. Are you still able to edit? --King of All the Franks 11:17, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I've heard other users advocate the opinion that only registered users should be able to edit. I myself am not fond of the idea, but I can see how it might help. I'm glad you alerted me to the effects of the block, and it is certainly something that should be brought before the developers (although it might be out of the hands and in those of the AOL people). Take care and happy editing from King of All the Franks 07:35, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Puerto Rico executive
Hey, I hope yo are doing ok. There are peple that keep including the US President as the Chief of State of Puerto Rico, a title that doesn't exist and it is nowhere in our constitution. They are equating the relationship of the president and Puerto Rico with that of the Queen and Commonwealth Realms. What is your opinion? Check the talk page in the Puerto Rico article. John Leguizamo
I get what you mean but John Leguizamo wasn't born in the United States or Puerto Rico. Him being categorized under Puerto Rican actors is absurd. He should only be categorized under Colombian actors (place of birth) and American actors (citizenship). You don't see American actors of Mexican descent (like Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, etc.) categorized under Mexican actors simply because of their ethnicity. In fact, that category contains only Mexican people by birth or citizenship/nationality. ---> Sagitario 15:31, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- That is because Puerto Rico is considered part of the US. Puerto Ricans are by right of birth American citizens. --Vizcarra 02:36, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Ari Meyers
Hi Tony! I've voted to keep the image. I'm sorry this newbie has done this - there's nothing unencyclopedic about the image, it's in good taste, and it's PD. If that doesn't make it suitable for Wikipedia, I don't know what does. Anyway, have a great Christmas! David Cannon 04:46, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
The wallpaper from Ari Meyers Online includes two images together. You cut one of the images from it for use in our encyclopedia. Anyway, why do you believe the image is public domain? Please provide your rationale. Adnghiem501 10:48, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
- Tony, the image is probably not in the public domain, which is probably why it is up for deletion. I think you can claim fair use, but you will have to explain why you want to use this image. Zach (Smack Back) 04:09, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for uploading Image:AMeyers.jpg. It is OK to be useful in our encyclopedia. I don't think it must have copyvio anymore. Can you tell me why the use of this image qualifies as fair use? Adnghiem501 00:51, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

- Is that what the page you linked to says? That page looks like it says the image is copyrighted either by the author or the Institute, either way all rights reserved. Re:Did You Know, Puerto Rico?
I think it's a great idea Tony. We must establish some parameters regarding the content of the section so it doesn't become an area of debate or revert wars (people thinking the other person's info is not relevant or good). Also I was wondering if you had seen the template I created for the 'see also' section. If you think I left anything let me know. Joelito 20:05, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

-Count me in! I'll think of some things! Smylere Snape 21:28, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
-I think calling it Did You Know? sounds better than "Trivia." Trivia can be any random fact, like that PR has 78 municipalities. Did You Know suggests interesting facts. Smylere Snape 22:31, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
-Will do. I'll help in any way I can. We should keep an eye out for useless trivia that might pop up. Smylere Snape 01:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Tony, I was just looking at the Did you know section in the Puerto Rico article and it is getting big which is what I suspected would happen. I was thinking of making the section as the did you know section in the wikipedia main page. I was thinking of using (or modifying) the template from the did you know main page. This way we could rotate the facts every week and keep the section short. The bulk of the facts could be moved to a separate article or talk page. Also suggestions for new facts could be given at either a talk page or at Wikipedia:WikiProject Puerto Rico. I would like to discuss this possibility with you and other fellow wikipedians. I have created (modified really) a proposed template. It is located here. Let me know what you think. Joelito 15:57, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Prinze
It's all good. By the way (if you've seen the recent piece of discussion on Prinze Jr's discussion page), you haven't happened to see a really good source about Prinze's mother's ancestry, have you? I'm leaning towards that rare "Irish/English/Native" rather than Italian. I think the Italian started somewhere and got re-posted all over the place, including the IMDB, and for all I know certain interviewers of Prinze, Jr. just who mention his "Italian mother" in their articles take that info from somewhere online, instead of asking him personally - but I could be wrong. By the way, I guess I'll have to change the Freddie Prinze (Sr) article as well, since it's fairly likely that he wasn't actually Jewish, or even Hungarian... JackO'Lantern 22:04, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- Freddie, Sr. did refer to himself as a "Hungarican", but this website [2] (run and written by the editor of "Jewhoo", a pretty good website about famous Jews) suggests (under the June, 2002 entry) that for whichever reason he mis-represented his background, and his father was an ethnic German, not a Hungarian or a Hungarian Jew. I found an interview with Freddie, Jr. where he mentions that his grandfather was German [3], which seems to go along with that, and that's the link I put on the Jr. page. I mentioned on the discussion page for Freddie Jr. that sources that seem reliable - i.e. like Hispanic Magazine - could well have gotten the info that's not in quotes from somewhere online, maybe even Wikipedia? (if so, we're honored). So the "Italian mother" thing could have gotten posted somewhere - maybe the IMDB was first? - in error and then repeated everywhere by people who think it's accurate. I wish I could find something that's a direct quote, like the "half German and half Puerto Rican" line Freddie, Jr. said on the Howard Stern show. JackO'Lantern 01:44, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- That Lutheran thing definitely makes sense to me if his father was German (especially since most non-Jewish Hungarians are Catholic, not Lutheran). I edited the Prinze, Sr. page - basically made it out to fit Prinze, Jr.'s quoted version of the story - i.e. half German and half Puerto Rican. I removed the mentions of Jr.'s mother's ancestry from Jr.'s page on Saturday until we confirm it. I think the "Irish/English/Native American" that this [4] reviewer mentions may be the correct info, but I guess it's wise to leave that out, too, until we see something as concrete as a direct quote from Freddie Jr. JackO'Lantern 06:28, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Cacique_Jumacao.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Cacique_Jumacao.JPG. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. -- Carnildo 00:38, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
