Have a refreshing break. You deserve it! • Astynax talk 07:08, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article was recently moved to "Gender to Hindu mythology". You passed this article as GA. Do you endorse the change? Discussion at Talk:Gender_in_Hindu_mythology#Requested move. --Redtigerxyz Talk 04:26, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Important enough for me to come out of my cave and comment. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Anahata Yoga, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Anahata Yoga and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bhuto (Talk | Contribs) 10:44, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Taj and minar.jpg listed for deletion

Once you decide to test the waters again...

[edit]

Platine War is an article which I have been helping to edit. It was put up for GA review, and got one of those no-notification quick-fail reviews by a drive-by viewer. He/she did leave behind a tag indicating issues with PoV, and I was wondering if you could put on your NPoV spectacles and give it a once-over? The article may have other issues and not have been ready for a GA review, but it would be good to have another set of eyes to look at it for PoV wording. • Astynax talk 21:55, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I should have struck this earlier. The allegations of PoV weren't that compelling and the article passed GA. • Astynax talk 20:25, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations Astynax. "Persistence in a righteous course brings reward!" --Nemonoman (talk) 12:24, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer granted

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 17:37, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:06, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Free Credo accounts

[edit]

I do not know you already have an account or even if it would be useful to you when researching articles or verifying references, but you may want to sign up for one of the free Credo accounts. They filled up within hours when they were last offered, but this time it is taking longer for the available accounts to be filled. • Astynax talk 17:32, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Astynax. I edit so infrequently these days that I didn't feel that I should take a slot. Best to you! --Nemonoman (talk) 13:33, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Bhau Kalchuri. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Well cited alternative views are not vandalism. In fact, not having the alternative view included can be construed as the article not having a neutral point of view. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:28, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Eruch Jessawala, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Also, please do not remove maintenance tags without addressing the underlying issue. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:30, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am attempting to settle with reasonably with you. Take it to the editors talk page. Stop edit-warring. Content disputes rarely end well for any party. 3RR

I just 3rr'd Don E Stevens. Miscounted my R's. Somebody block me. --Nemonoman (talk) 03:56, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I reverted your edit, if this is any way to help you from getting blocked for 3RR. I could have also reverted it, but the point is we should be discussing it instead of reverting. Given tha absence of any good will to discuss, I am at a loss too. I usually don't revert, but here it's a massive attack involved. In my years here I have never seen such a thing. This shouldn't be allowed by any standards, not between wikipedians at least. Hoverfish Talk 04:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, you didn't violate 3RR. There is a 24 hour period where you made 4 reverts (19:21, 9 August 2011; 21:44, 9 August 2011; 21:47, 9 August 2011; and 03:52, 10 August 2011), the second and third edits were consecutive, and thus count as a single revert for the purposes of counting 3RR. Thus, you have reverted 3 times in 24 hours, not 4, and so didn't break 3RR. That being said, clearly something is going on at that article; I don't know what, but everyone needs to stop reverting and start talking. I'm going to see if protection or some other fix is temporarily necessary. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:59, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Qwyrxian. For better understanding of the heat, please have a look at user contributions of User:ConcernedVancouverite here. I have been an occasional editor of several of these articles, and I am very disturbed by disruptive editing. Individually, CV's changes may seen as the challenging but reasonable work of an editor with an agenda, but taken in total, his edits are much more challenging. --Nemonoman (talk) 11:02, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Although I have stepped away from editing the article a while ago, it is still on my watchlist. After this count provided by Qwyrxian, you have again reverted the article. I've reported it at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:25, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of One Week for Edit Warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. You ask, you get. -FASTILY (TALK) 16:49, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to come here and do the same thing after seeing the article history. 3 hours after the protection expired, you immediately reverted back to your preferred version, rather than discussing it on talk. You knew you were close to 3RR, and, even if you didn't technically cross it, you were still edit warring. When you come back, please, take concerns to the talk page, and do not try to just force your version of the article. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:08, 11 August 2011 (UTC)][reply]

Thanks Qwyrxian. I regarded the saved version as vandalized. I'm not going to make a big deal about it. The prefered version I saved was the right version and the right thing to do. I knew I was falling on the grenade when I did the revert: that's how important the better version was to me. My violation of 3RR was a willful act, and I welcome this entirely warranted 1 week block. --Nemonoman (talk) 04:11, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Roller derby

[edit]

Thanks. If I step on your toes, let me know. Not entirely sure where the article is going and hard to figure out how to improve some sections… If you could have a go at the rules, citing the actual rules citation that I stupidly missed, that would be awesome. :) Would be nice to improve the equipment section and possibly get an graphic depicting the track proportions. --LauraHale (talk) 10:24, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And hello, Nemo. Feel free to call me Myron. I'll be happy to provide some more feedback and comments over the weekend. Table Wiki Markup Help, Please??

[edit]

Working on the Roller Derby page. I'd like to insert a table to the left or right of the article text -- more or less the same way one inserts a picture. I could do this in a heartbeat with raw HTML. Is there some sort of wiki syntax to do this?--Nemonoman (talk) 03:26, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure is. Check out Help:Table, Help:Wikitable and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Tables. If you run into a problems implementing, repost the helpme template. You can also always give me a shout on my talk page and I'll try to help.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:37, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think I know what you mean; it's a function of the margin number, so if you change {|style="margin:22px; ... to {|style="margin:1px; ... you get this, with the text butting up right next to the table:

Does that help or did I misunderstand? You'll note that the edge of the text gets a little messy when it's this close. I think it looks better if you keep a bit of distance.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:54, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help finding special page showing first time an addition was made

[edit]

{{helpme}} Sometime back I saw a special page that allowed a search of article versions to discover the first time a specific term was introduced. I can't find it again. Can anyone enlighten me? thanks. --Nemonoman (talk) 16:01, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're looking for WikiBlame.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:52, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to help. The helpme template adds pages to a category that only a limited number of users monitor, so it's not very surprising that the same user may answer two separate questions of a single person. Just so you know, if there is a Wikipedia-related question on which you seek wider help, you will get it in front of more people by asking at the help desk. By the way, please feel free drop by my talk page and ask me a question directly (or for any other reasons).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 17:09, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:BRRGLogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:BRRGLogo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 04:39, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You're welcome! I remember my first uploads and I felt the same as you do now, but when you do more of them, it's not so bad or hard. I try to put at some time daily into working on backlog (where things that go "bump" often wind up to get fixed) and that's where I saw your problems with the logo. If you feel you need help with any uploads in the future, please feel free to leave a note on my talk page and I'll try to help. We hope (talk) 23:45, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question about MADE and OSDA

[edit]

MADE and the OSDA are growing organizations in Roller Derby having been endorsed by Jerry Seltzer and having a dozen or more leagues expanding at a rapid. It is also the only organization for co-ed, men, women and old school co-ed type teams and leagues. Having been around since 2007, these are legitimate relevant organizations in Roller Derby. Previous edits have included links to other sources. What sources are required to keep this in the article? Roller Derby is a co-ed sport since the 1930s and the only two co-ed organizations are very relevant. (unsigned comment left by 65.242.105.66)

Film has not entered production, WP:NFF

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Deena Freeman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TheatreWorks. The article New Life (Meher Baba) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Help creating references that include internal quotes

[edit]

I have seen examples in references where the editor has included not just the book info and page number, etc., but also includes a short quote. It looks something like this:

::Blow, Joe, Some Book, Some Publisher, Page 10. "Quotes inside references are helpful, because they don't clutter up the article text."

At least I think I have seen this. Can somebody direct me to the proper markup for this?

See Template:Cite_book#Quote. And, please sign your posts. WBGconverse 15:54, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Notability Paradox

[edit]

My impression is that the major driver of Silence Day notability has been its annual mention in Wikipedia On This Day. Because of On this Day, the number of eyeballs seeing the Meher Baba page and Silence Day eclipse the total sales of every book about Meher Baba ever published. So in effect, the main non-in-house source telling people about Silence Day, WP, is the same source that is now debating whether to delete it. Nemonoman (talk) 20:43, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to find content of Main Page on a past date

[edit]

I am trying to see the content of the WP Main Page as it appeared on a past date; specifically the content of the On This Day section (for example on 10 July 2015). Is this possible?--Nemonoman (talk) 13:53, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, totally possible. Wikipedia:Main Page history is what you want. July 10th 2015 is here. Yunshui  14:25, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Yunshui. I hadn't look closely enough. Your help very much appreciated! Found what I needed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Main_Page_history/2013_July_10--Nemonoman (talk) 15:27, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to reference a previous reference

[edit]

Please see Silence Day reference section. As the article continues, I'm pointing to different pages in books I've referenced before. I'm duplicating most of the information. Isn't there some sort of WP equivalent of 'op cit'? Thanks for the help.--Nemonoman (talk) 00:51, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of ways, depending on whether you are wanting to cite the same pages or not. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing_sources#Repeated_citations and the subsequent section. This said, you're citing mostly pointless sources in that article because they're not independent of the subject and thus will (should!) have no impact on the outcome of the current deletion discussion. - Sitush (talk) 10:07, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Robbins has solid academic credentials and has published his dissertations over reputed peer-reviewed media - hence, he is reliable. This is is an interesting read, as to the broader locus of the capacity of sociologists to objectively interpret and critique any new religious cult, with which they sympathize.

No; mine being an atheist is not a conflict. WP:COIN lies that-way, if you disagree.

Please feel free to send any article that I've written about extensively/created, to AfD w/o consulting me. (Obviously, you do need to notify me of the AfD) You are always free to nominate an article for deletion (by policy) and the community will decide them, on their individual merits. Also, see WP:OSE. WBGconverse 13:15, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Another note:- Absent taking any article to AfD or taking any similar steps, if you continue to harp about my articles (and how I am being unfair as to not applying the same rules), you will find yourself at AN, for casting unsubstantiated aspersions. WBGconverse 15:03, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you feel an AN is warranted, start one. I'm thinking about starting one myself. or as you suggested a COIN.
Please consider your words and actions. I am troubled by the cult comments in the AFD, and in others you have instigated: these paint and other editors with a bad brush, and clearly suggest that we are mindless automatons while you are much credible. That is bad juju, and I ask you to consider those expressions in the future.
I have and will continue to be respectful of you as a fellow editor. (I'm grateful for your helpme guidance, which was generous). I don't intend to AFD your articles, because I share their GNG interpretations. However our shared interpretation for THOSE articles should be applied to Silence Day's also. In the end howver, the AFD will be judged and decided, and it's important that all the facts, including your POV and your variance in guideline interpretations be put on the table.
I earlier asked you to withdraw the AFD because I think this one was uncalled for (as I think your reasoning is now proving), and because I know those discussions can be unpleasant, I know that eventually most editors, even the best, will get scrappy and start saying things that they might regret later.
For my part, I will try to stay on the high ground.
You spoke generally about your concerns, and I have spoken impersonally. If you feel that I have said something that warrants an apology, I will review and very likely apologize. I don't mind a few bruises in contact sports, but if I actually hurt someone, I am quick to make amends.--Nemonoman (talk) 15:25, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Content of Meher Baba Discourses before deletion

Silence Day

[edit]

You made a great defense, and brought up issues and guideline language which really should have saved the page. You mentioned the likely possibility that articles exist in reputable Indian-language newspapers and, if you can find one or two of those, I'd think the page could be instantly brought back in the very good state you left it in. Congratulations on your caring for the topic. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:35, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is only one really reputable Indian newspaper and that is in English, ie: The Hindu. And even that paper has recently been caught plagiarising content. However, I did attempt a search elsewhere, and I'm sure WBG will have done so. I'm fairly sure some of the other !voters are speakers of various major Indian languages also. Please note that you're going to need more than "one or two of those" because none of the extant sources counted for anything, even the Toksvig piece. - Sitush (talk) 14:48, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Now M. Baba's gravesite page is having a deletion attempt (I put it back twice and said if they want to do that then an RM is needed). You'd think there'd be coverage in Indian newspapers about that at the time of his death. And how could the only reputable Indian newspaper be The Hindu when, I assume, Indian articles are used as sources at Indian Wikipedia (or is there an Indian Wikipedia?). File permission problem with File:Dragnslayer.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Dragnslayer.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 03:37, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 11:00, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Files

[edit]

Hello, Nemonoman,

If you ever want these deleted files restored let me know and I can take care of that. A few editors have been going through a files category and tagging older. unused files (from 2005-2011) for Proposed Deletion but as you know these can be restored if you'd like a copy. Most of the time, these files were uploaded by editors who have been gone for a decade or more but I still you are still active so perhaps you will see this message. Take care, Liz Read! I very much appreciate this care on your part, Liz. No need to restore. Nemonoman (talk) 13:16, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
