New York, New York
[edit]Null, my thinking is that people from Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island receive mail addressed to those cities, not New York, New York. While I won't actively dispute your reversion, I do think that Bronx, New York would be acceptable and more accurate. New York, New York has always meant Manhattan to me. Sswonk (talk) 14:06, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- To most users, "New York, New York" is clear enough. Also, to maintain consistencies between all WS/LCS/LDS articles, a "(city name), (state name)" format is preferred. If you want to add clarity, I suggest that you use "Bronx, New York, New York" and review all such articles. (Mets, Giants, Dodgers, etc) -- NullSpace (talk) 00:10, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
As per the NLDS...
[edit]Since the Cubs-Dodgers series was completed in three games, MLB said that if a fifth game in the Phillies-Brewers series is necessary on October 7th, the start time was changed to 8:37 PM from its' original 6:07 PM. Given how the Phillies have been beating the Brew Crew like the rented government mule, it may not be needed after all. NoseNuggets (talk) 2:50 PM US EDT Oct 5 2008

[edit]Rather than a cpaital X, Associated Press uses either a lower case x or a multiplacation sign (×). I just wanted to let you know. NoseNuggets (talk) 2:20 AM US EDT Oct 20 2008.
- The MLB.com linescores/boxscores use a capital X. I think it's more "official", isn't it?--NullSpace (talk) 06:06, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
For what it's worth 2004 ALCS
[edit]Here is the game summary from Dan Shaughnessy: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2004/10/19/two_wins_in_hand_two_to_go/ . I have a hard time remembering the start and end time, it is still hard to fathom what Ortiz did during those 23 hours. I think people assume that all late October baseball games start in prime time which is why that passage was changed to 8:10 PM. Sswonk (talk) 14:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Previously, I found that it's consistent within the original writing (started at 8:10, lasted 5h49m, ended at 1:59), so I chose to trust him and didn't do further investigation. Thank you for your information.--NullSpace (talk) 00:03, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Brackets on 2009 World Baseball Classic
[edit]This has been discussed on Talk:2009 World Baseball Classic#Brackets and common sense dictates that the team on the upper part of the bracket goes to the upper half, and the lower team on the lower half, basically allowing the lines trace where they came from. It's like the 2007 postseason where the bracket leading to the LCS shows Boston rightfully on top since it is on the upper half of the bracket despite being at the bottom part of the box score for majority of the games. –Howard the Duck 18:32, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

MLB Playoff Summary template
[edit]Would you object if I edited the MLB Playoff Summary template so that the "Date" field appears after the "Game" field? It just seems more logical to place it there as opposed to in the middle of the table, and that is generally the order in which such charts in other sources appear (Game, Date, Score, Location, etc.).-PassionoftheDamon (talk) 20:08, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

1903 World Series
[edit]I noticed you've had a fair amount of contact with the above article, so I wanted to ask someone before wasting my time. A local bar that I frequent has a framed original 1903 World Series poster hanging on its wall. If I could get a good quality picture of it, would it be worth including in that article? That article already has a lot of images, but one more can't hurt, I think! KV5 (Talk • Phils) 15:27, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey
[edit]Created a place for you and 98.240.184.20 to slug it out over your edit to 2009 American League Division Series. I agree with your take, and reverted his edit for it, since his take is MUST and the accepted (on google search) is only SPECULATION. There is no evidence for or against outlying influences that could have given the same outcome. Sigh, biased fans. FELYZA TALK CONTRIBS 22:07, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

- Someone else chimed in, and agrees its a possibility, and not proven fact. Its now 3v1 regarding the 'MUST' vs 'MAYBE' debate, so unless 98.240.184.20 can get more on his side to further argue the topic, its at a 3 to 1 consensus. If he again reverts, now that there is a consensus, it is vandalism of the page. FELYZA TALK CONTRIBS 11:49, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Minor edit on 1989 world series
[edit]NullSpace, I noticed that you changed the link to Jose Canseco's page, adding the accent. I'm not sure what the standard practice is with regards to baseball players, but I know that for hockey players we try to write the link as it appears at the top of the page which the link directs you to. I'd also point out that when you search josé canseco, you get redirected to jose canseco. What confuses me is that in the article, canseco is introduced using the accent. Maybe you can help clarify for me what is standard practice when linking players with accents. Thanks! DCnative311 (talk) 17:47 (CST), July 25, 2011
- I didn't find any Wikipedia guideline, either. Based on my observation, those born outside USA has accents while those who born as an American does not. I guess the one who created the original Canseco page thought since Canseco born in Cuba, the page should be named with accents and through the article. Maybe after he became an American, he removed the accents from his name. Please remove the accent from the 1989 WS page, thanks.--NullSpace (talk) 08:43, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm trying to figure out what this edit has to do with your edit summary,[1] and also trying to figure out just what you're getting at, regarding the ballparks. Be more specific. Or just talk to me about it. That's my area of special interest. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 12:57, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ah. my bad. these are actually follow-ups of previous summary (can I edit a edit summary?) should put these in Talk:1932 World Series or User talk:NCDane--NullSpace (talk) 13:18, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, unfortunately, you can't edit the edit summaries, not even your own. Many's the time I made some kind of error in the edit summary and only observed it after it was "set in concrete". If you've got a ballpark concern about the 1932 Series, that article would be a good place to raise it. One thing worth pointing out is that sources for intra-city World Series will typically list the ballparks, since "at New York" is insufficient; and then the home team can be determined by who batted last. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 13:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Suspended Games, - vs X
[edit]I received that piece of information from an official scorer, though I can't actually see it in Rule 10 either. I'll refer you to MLB.com's own scoreboard for September 30, where the suspended game for the day is listed in the way I previously prescribed: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/index.jsp?tcid=nav_mlb_scoreboard#date=9/30/2011 RefereeOrganist (talk) 06:51, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll undo my changes.--NullSpace (talk) 06:55, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- No problem. For whatever reason, MLB makes style guides & rules interpretations almost impossible to find. RefereeOrganist (talk) 06:55, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Game 3 WS. Thanks for fixing that.
[edit]I accidentally copy/pasted some stuff and got a little twisted up in the edit window dealing with the cites. I thought I had it good to go, but it was still screwed up. Sorry about that. You beat me to the fix. I started out just fixing the consecutive hit innings fact and found a bunch of other stuff to improve in the game summary. Im not used to editing on highly active current events pages so I was probably rushing myself a little to avoid edit conflicts. Thank you for straightening that out for me. Take care:)--Racerx11 (talk) 18:17, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Just a question...
[edit]I noticed that you reverted my edit on 2001 World Series. Well, I only added that to the article because it was already on Mariano Rivera's page. Should it be removed from there, too? Yankees Expert (talk) 00:14, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think it's fine to stay on Rivera's page because it's more about Rivera than 2011 WS. --NULLSPACE (Φ) 16:05, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
1969 World Series
[edit]What I added about the 1969 World Series was true. That World Series was the first one since 1954 to involve a team from New York other than the Yankees, not 1956. The matchup for the that World Series was between the Cleveland Indians and the New York Giants, get your facts right.
DanshamDansham (talk) 00:30, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
- I think the Dodgers, before moving to Los Angeles in 1958, shall be also "qualified" as "a team from New York other than the Yankees". So the 1955 and 1956 WS are both "involving a team from New York other than the Yankees".--NULLSPACE (Φ) 01:45, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Frank White and Game Six of the 1985 World Series
[edit]You wanted a citation[2] for his being CS when he was really safe at 2nd base. I found one and put it in the article[en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1985_World_Series&diff=next&=498907038] also slightly re-writing that section of the article. The source- Bill James 1986 Baseball Abstract. James wrote- "White then bunted for a single, but was called out at second base trying to steal. The call at second was questionable,". That was all James said on the play but he is a RS. Bleacher Report is the only other source I can find for it and BR isn't a good source. 1985 news articles available via Google news archive search make no mention of the play. If you have any comment on what I did, write back here....William 22:50, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- The text in question is "Replays showed that...". Can we find a video link to the replay so other readers can verify this?--NULLSPACE (Φ) 08:30, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- Youtube has zilch. BR has nothing. They even[3] have Steve Balboni playing 1st base for the Cardinals. BR reads "In the bottom of the 4th inning, second baseman Frank White got a one-out single. White then attempted to steal second base, and was called out when replays showed he was clearly safe. Rightfielder Pat Sheridan then singled which possibly costed the Royals a run after Cox pitched his way out of the inning." When replays showed....thats where the "Replays showed bit I edited is probably coming from. James is a better source than BR....William 10:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
DYK for 2012 National League Wild Card Game
[edit]On 16 October 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 2012 National League Wild Card Game, which you created or substantially expanded. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2012 National League Wild Card Game. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Thank you for what you did on the 1991 World Series page. I don't know enough about what qualifies for the lede paragraphs, and was reluctant to trim the content. I know I made a significant contribution (you should have seen how many people were smiling today, doubtless a result of the page's refinement), and I know you took it further by relegating content to the 'who cares' section. 1956 World Series
[edit]I noted that you reverted one of my edits that replaced "{{!-}}" with "|-". Just letting you know that the template is generally supposed to be for templates with conditions (e.g. rows that appear only if a condition in "#if:" is met), not general articles that certainly cannot be transcluded into another. Thanks! --Marianian(talk) 22:22, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
- "It supposed to be" does not mean "It cannot be used". I reverted your edit because it changed (broke) the appearance of the article. The attendance and the players' share information were gone. At least you should use {{!}}- instead of |-. Of course, since Frietjes has modified the "linescore" template and related articles. This became non-issue...--NULLSPACE (Φ) 13:45, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
1988 World Series, Game 1
[edit]The entire Game 1 is posted on YouTube. If you watch, you will see Belcher hit Canseco on the right bicep and Doug Harvey did not call a foul tip strike, but awarded Canseco first base. Lasorda was the one who disputed that the ball hit his bat because of the sound and because the ball rolled all the way to the back fence in foul territory. Usually, if someone is hit with a pitch, it doesn't cause a ball to roll so far. Replays showed the ball hit Canseco in his bicep.
The McGwire quote can probably be removed; I remember reading it in either Inside Sports or Sport Magazine, but I can't quite pin it down.
Mynameisphil (talk) 20:18, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- I have no problem with the right bicep part, should revert only the quote, or remove it entirely. Thanks for the point--NULLSPACE (Φ) 07:19, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
