Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]George Dewey removal of text
[edit]Hi, I noticed you deleted my entry and citation regarding George Dewey. "Returning to the United States on September 27, 1899, Dewey arrived off New York on the Olympia and received a hero's welcome. The first to welcome the Olympia was the pilot boat No. 7, fifteen miles south of the hook lightship. The pilot was put aboard the Olympia and brought her around Sandy Hook into the lower bay."
Instead, you have: "Returning to the United States on September 27, 1899, Dewey received a hero's welcome. New York City's September 1899 welcome-home celebration for Dewey was a two-day parade."
Can we say? "Returning to the United States on September 27, 1899, Dewey [arrived off New York on the Olympia and] received a hero's welcome. [The first to welcome the Olympia was the pilot boat No. 7, fifteen miles south of the hook lightship.] New York City's September 1899 welcome-home celebration for Dewey was a two-day parade."--Greg Henderson 23:39, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
RHodnett's response to Greg Henderson
[edit]Hi, Greg. I'm not any sort of senior editor at Wikipedia (or else I would know the proper procedure for responding to your message), and I am no more entitled to throw my weight around than anybody else. But I don't think there's anything noteworthy about which pilot boat was the first to meet Dewey's ship when he arrived in New York City. – RHodnett (talk) 07:02, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
August 2020
[edit]Hi RHodnett! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at The Horse Soldiers that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Most of your edits do look to be appropriately WP:MINOR, but some, like this one don't seem to fit, since it adds new information. POLITANVM talk 04:32, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, this is User: Houston Archer Clark. You reached out to me regarding me reverting one of your edits. If this edit was in good faith, I apologize. Your edit showed up on wikiloop doublecheck as having a high probability of being in bad faith. I saw that you deleted a lot of text so I assumed that the edit was in bad faith. Looking at your talk page, it seems you are a good editor and likely had good reason for deleting text. Again I apologize. Feel free to restore your edits. I am brand new at Wikipedia and I don't have much experience yet with how all this works but I do want to fight vandalism. Houston Archer Clark (talk) 21:48, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Houston Archer Clark
