I was under the impression that the list goes from the least recent team to the most recent team. There doesn't seem to be any concrete policy for how teams should be listed on the talk page you provided. --Sparkhurst 21:30, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I just looked at that. Sorry, I thought it was decided. I guess either way is fine. Maybe I'll bring it up again and everyone can decide on a format for continuity. Sorry to go reverting your edits before its decided! --Schmackity 12:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coaches Table

[edit]

Okay, here are your answers.

  1. When it comes to calculating winning percentage with overtime losses, count them like ties - half a win in the standings.
  2. Your spacing on the table is normal. If you don't have a set defined length for each column, it will automatically fit to the longest entry in that column. In the case of the Games Coached column, this means that column are as long as the "Games Coached" header, since it's the longest entry in that column. In short, that kind of extra spacing is normal.

And thank you for the complement on the Bruins table. You did a pretty good job yourself with the Wings' coaches table. –NeoChaosX (talk | contribs) 19:15, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification. My thought is centered on focusing on the subject of utmost importance first before others. However, if the standard format requires that the image caption reads as such, I can comply. I'll reword the caption in part to your initial edit and we'll see if other reader have any problems with this revision. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:33, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically on the Red Wings page where you often revert. They're good reverts, but you have to let the user know why or else it's just going to come right back. Thanks! scsgoal31 00:50, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Detroit Red Wings Training Staff

[edit]

Hello Schmackity,

I'm Currently trying to concentrate on Biographies of NHL Training Staff. I Came across a name that I can't find any information on. Since you are a Red Wings fan maybe you could help me out.

W. Humeniuk was the Assistant Trainer to Carl Mattson in the early 1950s and He won the Stanley Cup with them in 1950 Before He was Replaced by Ross "Lefty" Wilson.

If you know anything about this man (Particularly What his First Name was) or where I would go about fnding information on Him Could you please Help Me.

Thanks,

Walter Humeniuk

[edit]

Hey,

Thanks that helped a lot. The page for Walter Humeniuk is started check it out and tell me what you think ?

My Next Project's are Carl Mattson and Walter Crossman both of whom were Red Wings trainers. If you know anything about either of those men it would be a big help.

Thanks,

Nancy Beard / Bill Tibbs

[edit]

Hey Schmackity,

I'm once again trying to deal with obscure Stanley Cup winners again. I would like to create a page on Nancy Beard who had something to do with the 2002 Detroit Red Wings championship. She is no longer with the team so there is nothing on the official website about her. Do you happen to know anything about her or where I could go to find information on people like this.

There is also the issue of Bill Tibbs whose Name appears on the 1952 Stanley Cup [1] but He is not listed as a player on any of the offical Detroit rosters of that time do you know who He is and whether He played any other role with the team (i.e. Trainer) and if any information exists on this man where would it be located ? Thanks, Michael Drew 04:15, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2002 Stanley Cup Engravings

[edit]

Hey Schmackity,

I was wondering, Do You know whether or not the Red Wings Black Aces like Sean Avery, Maxim Kuznetsov, Ladislav Kohn, Jesse Wallin, and Uwe Krupp got their names engraved on the Stanley Cup in 2002 ?

Thanks, Michael Drew 01:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Walter Crossman

[edit]

Hello Schmackity,

Thanks for the information about my previous questions. You seem to be better at finding these things than me. My next question revolves around Walter Crossman who was with the team during the 1950s and was still with the team during their Stanley Cup Championship seasons in 1997 and 1998.

Any Information you can give me would be great.

Thanks, Michael Drew 04:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jacques Martin

[edit]

Hey Schmackity,

Another question on Stanley Cup related matters. Did Jacques Martin win the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 1996 before going to the Ottawa Senators. I've been trying to find out but am getting nowhere.

Thanks, Michael Drew 20:13, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

H. MacIntyre and R.J. Galloway

[edit]

Hello Schmackity,

This question is not for a Detroit Red Wings Related Article but for a Toronto Maple Leafs one. It relates to the 1947-48 Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley Cup Team. On the 1948 Stanley Cup Plaque [2] H. MacIntyre and R.J. Galloway are named as "Team Doctors". I've been trying to find information on them however I can't seem to find even what their first names were. Do you think you could help me on this one.

Pages on NHL trainers/staff

[edit]

Hey there Schmackity,

I'm in a bit of a problem and wondering if you could help me, somebody has decided to delete all of my articles on NHL trainers and other personell. (Many of whom have won multiple Stanley Cups). Maybe you know of how to stop this ? I spent a lot of time researching these people myself along with the assistance you provided so maybe you could give me some advice on how to proceed ?

Template Articles

[edit]

Hey There Schmackity,

I've just been looking at some of the recently created articles on WikiProject Ice Hockey. Recently there have been alot created by User:Patken4 such as Tom O'Neill (ice hockey), Morris Mott, Pete Palangio, Dan Schock, Martin Prochazka, Terry Reardon, Fred Robertson, Gordon "Tony" Savage, Enio Sclisizzi, D.J. Smith, Rene Trudel, Joe Zanussi, Johan Witehall etc. These articles like most of the one's he creates are one or two sentence stubs with little if any information and not much use to anyone. I'm wondering if you can tell whether he's useing somekind of template ? Also some of his articles have information that is factually wrong and links that go to information on a completely different player ! I've tried to fix some of them but it's very tidious. I'm wondering whether I/we should just manually fix every mistake he's made or norminate dome of them for deleting or what esle should we do. Is there any point in telling him to do more research into the articles he creates before he creates them ?

I'd very much like to hear what you think on this situation Thanks, Michael Drew 01:59, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please be aware that the Wikiproject has decided to make one or two sentence stubs for as many players as we can as we decided it was better to have a two sentence stub than no article at all. Once we have reached the point where everyone is added we are then going to expand them into full articles. As for mistakes or incorrect links, that is what the rest of us editors are here for to fix those sort of things. So no we should not nominate them and no we do not need him to do more research. If anything he is doing a thankless job that most of us are glad its him doing and not us. --Djsasso 19:42, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear Schmackity! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject!

From the project, Maxim.

New recognized content

By Maxim
There have been a lot more Good and Featured articles written in the past few weeks. Here is a list:[1][2][3][4]

Featured articles
Good articles
Featured lists[5]
Notes
  1. ^ All articles are in order of promotion, as written on the main WikiProject page; FA's have official dates of promotions.
  2. ^ A star represents a featured article or list
  3. ^ A green circle represents a good article
  4. ^ Stanley Cup is an A-Class article
  5. ^ The lists system differs from articles, and doesn't give an official date of promotion
Article Improvement

By Maxim

Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status.

Diacritics

By Maxim

In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt.

Task forces

By Maxim
There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics.

Sweden Ice Hockey task force

This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES.

New Jersey Devils task force

This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock.

Requested Images

By Maxim
After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests:

Article assessement completed

By Maxim
On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. This effort took around 5 months. A big thanks goes to Kaiser matias from me and all the project.

New recognized content

By Maxim

Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy
  3. Vezina Trophy
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy
  11. Jack Adams Award
  12. Presidents' Trophy
  13. List of Calgary Flames players

There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".
Did You Know?

By Maxim
There have been 4 new articles featured in the Did You Know section? on the Main Page since August.

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  3. Vezina Trophy (Scorpion)
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy (Serte)
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy (FutureNJGov)
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award (Scorpion)
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy (Croat Canuck)
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  11. Jack Adams Award (Maxim)
  12. Presidents' Trophy (Scorpion)
  13. Stanley Cup (Earlier collaboration, very many involved)
  14. Traditions and anecdotes associated with the Stanley Cup (Maxim)

Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.

Re -Template:NHLTeamSeason

[edit]

Good point on the older seasons. I've added a parameter for both the Prince of Wales Trophy and O'Brien Trophy for the older NHL playoff and regular season champions. The header for the Detroit Cougars is a tough one. I could modify it to force the editor to use a wikilink in the template itself (as one must do for divisions right now), but that would require editing over 200 articles to fix what that would break. Leaving it pointing to the disambig page for now might be best.

Incidentally, and this is simply my personal opinion, but I think that 1926-27 Detroit Red Wings season should be moved to 1926-27 Detroit Cougars season, as that was the proper name of the team in that year. Regards, Resolute 00:09, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Fortworthtexan.gif

[edit]

Image:Fortworthtexan.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

  • More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. The newsletter creator doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
  • Portal:Ice hockey is being considered for featured status.

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
