[edit]

Hello, Squamate, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Here are a few more good links to help you get started:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Userbox ideas

[edit]

In future, if you post an idea, please post it in the "to do" section only. It does not require its own section, and it does not need a "i did it myself" comment either. On completion, as the instructions state (if you bothered to read them), the idea should be pasted into the done section, with a strikethrough, saying "DONE" and a link to the template's page. You can clearly see that is policy by the fact that the whole "Done" section is organised that way. - • | Đܧ§§Ť | • T | C 15:37, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Your user page shows up in {{Category:Boy Scouts of America}} and in {{Category:Order of the Arrow}}. I would appreciate it if you removed those two categories from your user page, as they are not needed: the user boxes should do that. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 15:27, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You should probably add a note to your new articles on arthropod femur, etc., to clarify that the name is analogous with the femur, etc., of vertebrate species, but also that there is no actual bone present in the arthropod. DS 16:56, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

your comments on mosquito talk page

[edit]

It is unclear to me why you keep making an issue of my use of multiple accounts. All of my recent edits to the mosquito talk page (as with all of my other recent edits) have been completely supported by wikipedia policy. Specifically, my deletion of some segments of the mosquito article was completely justified by wikipedia:verifiability and wikipedia's proibition on original research. As for your request that I make my non vulgar mosquito edits with my "primary" username (though, to be honest, at this username has pretty much become my primary account), I cannot do this because editing the same article with both usernames, particularly when those edits are opposed by the same parties who opposed my previous edits, could easily be construed as an abusive use of sockpuppets. As for your reference to wikipedia:checkuser, if you read checkuser guidelines, you will find that it is only to be used in situations such as vandalism in which sockpuppets are used abusively, as the checkuser policy gives strong deference to user privacy. As all of the edits I have done with this account have been in line with policy (in fact, I have actually reverted quite a bit of vandalism and, yes, made many non-controversial edits and have even received a barnstar) and I have never even been accused of vandalism, let alone blocked, it is hard to see how a checkuser against me could be justified. As such, my anonymity seems reasonably safe. I just hope in the future we can cooperate to improve wikipedia and you do not assume that my edits are in bad faith just because we had a legitimate disagreement about the "kiddie song"; particularly since my arguments for inclusion were very much grounded in wikipedia policy. Interestingstuffadder 20:14, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for noticing that on my userbox collection, I'll have to remove it. I dont see how assume good faith is even an issue or my edits can be considered distruptive when I have provided solid references to wikipedia policy that pretty clearly say my actions are legitimate. Did you even look at the explanations I provided for my actions? I mean, there is a policy that explicitly says that an editor can remove uncited information at any time. Also, much of what was in those sections very much met wikipedia's definition of original research. I am trying very hard to be civil, collegial and to cooperate with you. Why do you insist on continuing to have a negative attitude towards me? Interestingstuffadder 23:23, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really dont understand why you are making an issue of this. Actually, I should really just rmeove that line from my userpage, as I have probbly made 100X more edits with this username than with any other. Interestingstuffadder 18:44, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History of Pittsburgh - request for collaboration

[edit]

I've put a lot of additional work into this article, based on feedback from when it was a Featured Article Candidate. Also updated the maps to give them a more standard appearance. I'm going to submit the article for peer review and then FAC again. Before I do, though, I need some help from the WikiProject Pittsburgh. Please take some time and help with these tasks:

  1. improve the article with changes, additions and deletions
  2. some stern proof-reading, please
  3. give it a quality/importance rating at Talk:History of Pittsburgh
  4. leave feedback at Talk:History of Pittsburgh

Thanks. I'll be leaving this note at the talk pages of the project members who have been most active in Pittsburgh-related articles. Tomcool 14:42, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you like it. We are trying to re-do images in svg format because they generally look nicer at different scales, and it's also being pushed by Wiki because they are easily edited. Notability of Kim Sanches

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Kim Sanches, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Kim Sanches seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Kim Sanches, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:08, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of category from your userpage

Hi. In enacting consensus from User categories for discussion, I have removed the category Category:Wikipedians interested in books from your userpage. It was determined in that deletion debate that this category should be depopulated of individuals, but kept as a parent category. Thanks, and please excuse the necessary editing of your user page! ----Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:48, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Pittsburgh Hardhats (basketball)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Pittsburgh Hardhats (basketball), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

un-notable "non-team"

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

[edit]

The article you created: Pittsburgh Hardhats (basketball) may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for Pittsburgh Hardhats (basketball) : google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

  1. List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
  3. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
  4. You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 03:42, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Carol Shaya

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Carol Shaya. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carol Shaya. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lovari (entertainer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles – see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Kimchi.sg (talk) 04:48, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Zora Andrich for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Zora Andrich is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zora Andrich until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. WuhWuzDat 14:51, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Republic of West Melanesia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lack of significant independent coverage or recognition in reliable sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Quigley (talk) 21:06, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:53, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started

[edit]

Hello, Squamate. Thank you for your work on Outeiro de Rei. Cl3phact0, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

This exists on 35 other wikis, odd that we wouldn't want it on enwiki too. (See also: wikidata:Q643709)

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Cl3phact0}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
