April 2015

[edit]

Hello, I'm I dream of horses. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Daniel Martin Eckhart  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. I dream of horses (t) (c) @ 22:45, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I dream of horses Hi there. Thanks for your message. I had removed the questions regarding validity of some of the content on Daniel Martin Eckhart. This is not a promotional page - it is simply a correct representation. IMDB content is always verified and can absolutely be trusted. If there are ways you could suggest that'll help make the page more solid/verifiable for Wikipedia experts like yourself, please let me know. I'll gladly learn. Thanks for your help Danielmartineckhart (talk) 15:42, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, we don't regard IMdB as trustworthy and verified, since it's user-generated content. So, you'll have to use other sources to prove it's not a promotional page. --I dream of horses (talk) @ 03:23, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I dream of horses Thanks for clarifying - I thought of IMDB as rock-solid as I've known them to vigorously check. But good to know that Wikipedia is even more solid. I've now cleaned up the IMDB references - would appreciate if you could take a glance and see if that's better. Thanks Danielmartineckhart (talk) 19:46, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the London Screenwriters Festival seems like a good source to me; however, there are still user-generated content references (vimeo, youtube, the German Wikipedia, etc.).
By the way, if you really are Daniel, you may wish to review our conflict of interest policies--though, I do think you are allowed to bring sources to the table. I dream of horses (talk) @ 20:27, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I dream of horses Thx. Would you advise then to simply remove youtube and vimeo links? They are second tier verification that what is stated in the article is correct, right? As for the German Wikipedia - that's an unreliable source, too? As for conflict of interest, I have no concerns there. I'm not promoting anything. Wikipedia is a simple representation of publicly known facts. Danielmartineckhart (talk) 21:07, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by second-tier sources?
The German Wikipedia is user-generated content, and not verified. On top of that, circular citing is apparently considered an academic sin. I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message. (talk) contribs @ 00:49, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Barnaby Smith (novel)

[edit]

The article Barnaby Smith (novel) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTBOOK

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. reddogsix (talk) 19:53, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Daniel Martin Eckhart requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 15:47, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Survey Invite

[edit]

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they effect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take 5 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH?Q_DL=2oczE7SODTUnF5j_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH_MLRP_bBJFpyzH51jUfKB&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 15:31, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Connemara, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Field (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:36, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional listings

[edit]

I (effectively) reverted your edits to Connemara because the works you added are either not themselves WP:notable or their authors are not notable. To prevent abuse of Wikipedia for promotional product placement purposes, such listings are not accepted. Please see WP:Wikipedia is not for the sorts of material that is not hosted. --Red King (talk) 20:12, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
