Thanks for uploading Image:Secure Digital Sizes.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:DSC05506.JPG. The copy called Image:DSC05506.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 21:47, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crotalus Image

[edit]

Thanks! I'm not so good at the whole "editing" part of the image process, so I appreciate it. You might want to add a blurb about what you did on the Picture Peer Review page. Tigerhawkvok (talk) 20:20, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cherry

[edit]

Hi. Thank you very much for your very useful comment on my image that I nominated for W:PFC. I'm seeing you know well about images and would like to ask your opinion about other images of cherries that I uploaded here, I am wondering if there is any of them that meets required conditions. Regards, Gülməmməd Talk 23:45, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment I'm glad you took it seriously. The picture you have on the random gallery are probably not FP material. I recently got my first picture through Commons so I'm not claiming to be the best when it comes to great pictures. If you're going to make it through Wikipedia FP you must have a few things:
  • A picture with encyclopedic content (an animal/plant must be given a family, genus, ect... determined)
  • The picture must appear in an article as a main picture or as a picture in a category (pictures in a gallery will not be accepted)
  • A good picture that is composed properly with the entire object in the picture
  • The picture must be aesthetically pleasing and informative (while taking picture think of what angle gives the best lighting and the most information to someone with no knowledge of the subject)
  • The picture must not have stitching errors(panoramas only), blown out areas, Chromatic aberration, high noise content or be too dark. (If a picture has one of these errors it could likely be fixed by photo editing software if the error is negligible the picture may still pass. I obviously couldn't give you an entire lists because people's opinions vary.)
For your personal situation there are a few things you can do. I see that you are taking pictures with a Canon G9. The G9 had a CCD sensor which naturally gives higher noise than a CMOS sensor found on dSLRs. For this it is advisable that you find some software that does a good job at reducing the noise in your pictures. If this does not work to remove enough noise you may want to downsize the image slightly until the noise is barely visible (this is no problem with a 12mp shot). For editing you may want to get Adobe CS3 if you do not already have it or a free trusted alternative such as GIMP. Editing is probably the best thing you can do to a picture to remove imperfections in an image just as long as it does not falsify the main subject (removing limbs from animals like Fir's current FP candidate). If you are attempting to take great pictures I would recommend you shoot in your camera's RAW mode which allows you to change many aspects of the photo after you have taken it (this may seem a pointless waste of time and memory space but after shooting for months it makes much more sense to do this). On canon's RAW processing software there is an option for noise reduction that may help you greatly. RAW also allows you to change the exposure for picture so you could take a picture a few stops darker than usual and correct it later. Going back to your picture I advise you to look up methods of taking pictures. This involves taking pictures in low light, macro photography methods, high or low DOF to remove backgrounds or to emphasize them (If you want a guide on using the feature of a manual camera I would be glad to post one). The G9 is a very capable alternative to a dSLR camera but it takes time to find your identity as a picture taker. victorrocha User talk:victorrocha 1:45, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi again. This is great information. Thank you very much for your time and very useful information. I will need to ask you more questions in the future if you don't mind. I am completely new in this field and when I saw first comments on my PFC, I wondered why people were saying that. But now everything is clear. Thanks once again! Coca Cola FPC

[edit]

Hey smooth, I was going though FPC and I saw that the coca cola logo was still pending on the restoration. I wanted to know if you have heard from anyone that is willing to restore it. If you have not, I'll try my hand at it later today until I am finished. The nomination has been suspended for over five days and would like it to be concluded soon. victorrocha (talk) 06:22, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I haven't gotten word from anyone it. Def. looking forward to hearing how you make out with it however. Keep me updated. Thanks. smooth0707 (talk) 21:33, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK almost done just give me a two hours max then I'll upload some restored versions. I cropped out the border on the edits I made because I'm not very good at blending the photo to the background paper. I'll post a comment on the FPC telling people if they want to try their hand at restoring the border because I have been working on the picture as a photoshop document to prevent data loss. victorrocha (talk) 17:16, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Check the FPC page. victorrocha (talk) 18:00, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Smith FPC

Is there some archival search functions for images at the Library of Congress (that's what I assume LC to mean) that I don't know about? I see this form and the 'meta' search. Is there another? Thanks for any information you can offer. Protonk (talk) 02:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • No not that I know of. Durova might have a bit more information on that but the PF you posted is very small compared to some of the pictures they have on the LC website. I was not able to find a match to the picture you have posted but there were some capable alternates. Victorrocha (talk) 05:06, 3 September 2008

Canon 5D Mk II

Yes, you're right, I have been waiting... I was more than aware, but thanks for the heads up anyway. Fir0002, FCB and I had been talking about it for quite some time here. :-) Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 07:18, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Graphic Designer's Barnstar
For your thorough restoration of the Baker Shot, I award you the Graphic Designer's Barnstar. Well-deserved; thank you. (And I'm glad you have yourself a new wallpaper!) wadester16 05:59, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for the award. I'm honestly surprised that this is the picture that I got that for. I've fixed a coca-cola logo and a samurai drawing for FPC both of which were hundreds of time more labor intensive. But STILL, much appreciated. Please contact me if you'd like anything else restored. Victorrocha (talk) 06:04, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations!

Your Featured picture candidate has been promoted
Your nomination for featured picture status, File:Operation Crossroads Baker Edit.jpg, gained a consensus of support, and has been promoted. If you would like to nominate another image, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. wadester16 04:38, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
While you didn't officially nominate this image, you did make it passable. So for that, enjoy some gratification. :-) wadester16 04:38, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
