Led or not? Vietnam
[edit]Well, some of the governments were coalitions or common fronts. Not all were purely communist. Although, its not very important. Most information I have read on it describes the governments as communist led. After all, that means communists led (were ruling or in charge of) the government. Biography of a living person
[edit]Hi YM,
Someone has added the full date of birth to the article Emma Basher which I created a short while ago. I shied away from adding such a private piece of info as it seemed an unwarranted and potentially hazardous addition. What is your opinion and if you concur can it be deleted from the article and history. Thanks Ozdaren (talk) 16:13, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem with a birthday of an athlete, especially as some people will compare how fast they are at certain ages and age criteria for youth competition etc. Still if she hasn't done any senior competitions yet, it might get deleted YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 01:39, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I was trying to respect her privacy on that front. Cheers Ozdaren (talk) 07:44, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Re: Canpark's articles
[edit]Should we report him to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard? The People's Army daily is merely a newspaper for soldiers so that it is hardly reliable and academic enough. - I have been watching Kundalini Yoga to see if any admin action might be needed. I perceive that a team of enthusiasts for Yogi Bhajan might be at work. There was an ANI report about Fatehji back in February 2010. I can't tell from the above discussion whether any blocks are appropriate yet. Do we need to file a formal SPI, or is there something that could already be done? YM, are you saying that RogerThatOne72 is a sock of Fatehji based on CU? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 17:53, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- (involved editor comment) I asked for CU when I came to the article through the Yogi Bhajan backlinks (been trying to clean that article up for a year), and saw the case at ANEW (looked like Boomerang, IP making the edit and user justifying it), that's cold now (since CU request was made during YMs vacation) and Ludwigs2 is trying to engage the user on the talk page. The two accounts haven't been used concurrently, and there isn't any block evasion, so I'm guessing no action on that count? But, (not really an admin action, but a more rigorous editorial action) it might be worthwhile to visit the entire Yogi Bhajan / 3HO series together? —SpacemanSpiff 18:10, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- Not quite understanding you. It's a violation of WP:SCRUTINY for someone to edit a contentious article under more than one ID. Did that occur in this case? Efforts at diplomacy by the sock are not enough, in my opinion. I get annoyed when the Bhajanists keep threatening to 'report' Gatoclass, who appears to be trying to enforce Wikipedia policy. When socks or meats become that uppity, it suggests a lack of admin attention. (No thanks to me, since I haven't been doing anything there lately). EdJohnston (talk) 18:29, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)I did think of WP:SCRUTINY, and I've been trying to restrict this fansite business out here, but I guess I tend to get a bit lenient when discussion starts -- which is a first for this set of articles. I'm not opposed to action right now, but I think we might gain more if we took on the entire thing in one go (Guru Fatha Singh Khalsa (talk · contribs) is the other SPA that operates in this space and Sharkbait061 (talk · contribs) is the counter POV SPA. Then Guru Sant Singh (talk · contribs) and his meat-IP (also sock checked) are tangential players. As for editing to avoid scrutiny in this particular case, yes, the IP and both user IDs have done that, and a block is definitely justified (the only reason I didn't recommend one above is because of the time lapse since my CU request and the discussion), but I'm definitely not opposed to action. But if you go through Special:WhatLinksHere/Harbhajan_Singh_Yogi, you'll see that the problem is greater than this article, and we've only AfDed two of the POV pieces within this garden so far, and a complete clean up might be more helpful than action on one problem at a time. So long story short, I'm not opposed to any admin action right now. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 18:43, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

- YM (and EdJohnston, if you're still looking at this thread), can you take a look at Nadar (caste)? One SPA (Lindam90) basically sourced everything to "caste claims" and a dubious "not available online" book that conflicts with available sources and kept removing the disputed tag from the article. Also, the earlier off-wiki conspiracies are active, with Orkut postings and caste warriors coming here. Sivakasi riots of 1899 has some better sourcing on the same subject (also attacked by the SPA). The Nadar talk page postings are ridiculous by this SPA as well as the other Orkut warriors who've gone ahead and vandalized many user pages over the past two days, YM - I believe this is a repetition of some earlier activity. I will have to be off-wiki for a few days, so can you take a look at this? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:39, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

- No idea, I just saw a note on my talk page today and looked at it, there appears to have been an edit war, and that Lindamd90 hasn't got any edits outside of this topic, so I find that highly suspicious. Also the abuse on the talk page, by him as well as the other IPs and talks of being a lawyer and asking all Nadars to come here (through Orkut). But I've seen some of the SPA's sourcing in the past, most of it is POV stuff. I don't think Linguisticgeek was entirely in the right here either, but he was adding back the "disputed" tag, which I think is necessary in this article. I can take a look sometime next week, but not before, as real life beckons me and I have to be off wiki. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:55, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Playing Syle sections
[edit]Almost none of the sports GAN explain with nay detail - and on many occasions they could, at least a little - especially for the well-known players. Should something perhaps be posted on the GAN talkpage, or would it get no where? Aaroncrick TALK 23:05, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, trying it out can't hurt anyone, except the sneakists. Unfortunately, the Wikipedia culture is very corrupt nowadays, although they don't flaunt it gangster style like the old days of 2007 and earlier. People just do the bare minimum to game any criteria/scheme for FA/GA/FL/RS/B-class/points, any political gimmick to get a "legacy" of "reforming" Wikipedia and so on and so forth. If only there were real subject experts on Wikipedia, more than half of the FAs would be killed off, probably, as only the author knows anything about the topic and can take shortcuts with impunity like a bureaucrat in the dirtiest developing countries looting the whole place YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 02:45, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
References in Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục article
[edit]Hello YellowMonkey.
I was reading the article Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục and came across some interesting information with a reference note beside it. When I clicked the note it took me to the references section, but that section isn't of much use. It cites authors and pages (e.g. "Jacobs, pp. 25–34" but gives no indication as to who the authors are or what works the pages are from. Looking at the revision history in case the original references were lost I found that you were the user who had put in a lot of those references on November 9, 2009. So since you put them in I guess you must know what they refer to, so could you provide full references for each of those authors you cited? I was particularly interested in perhaps finding one or two of the works (especially since at least one of them appears to be a book as opposed to a magazine article) and then reading some more on the subject, however I won't be able to with the limited references currently in the article. Thanks.72.27.82.206 (talk) 06:21, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
