- Subject of the image is a poster which the user found in a restaurant, so I'm doubting the PD-self claim here. Acather96 (talk) 08:08, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Is a release from the company F2 chemicals required? TCO (talk) 23:05, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Note, this image is being used in Fluorine, which is up for Featured Article. Question has arose as to if we need a release from F2. I have left an inquiry with the uploader, but he is not active for a year onsite. Some google sleuthing and looking at his contribs pretty much validates that he is/was an employee of the company. I can not find the image on their website (does not seem like a stock photo, but can't ensure that).
- Also, this is subtle, but would appreciate some discussion as to "what point does the burden of proof shift". I know in general that we are expected to show things free, but when have we been reasonable? IOW, can we just accept the upload as is and assume that uploader owned the photo? Obviously, we don' require notarized OTRSes for every self upload, so there is some limit of burden.
- At the same time, I guess there could be some question as to if the fellow took the photo while "on the clock" if the creation is owned by him or the company. Even so, then there comes a question as to if he is an agent (he seems to be the IT manager from my sleuthing).
- I can try reaching out to the company, but would appreciate advice. If they blow me off, or even if they assert ownership, where do we stand?
- Thanks in advance and I an actually using PUF for what it is there for (honest question and discussion of an "I don't know"!) TCO (talk) 23:13, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I tried reaching out to the company, but got no response. I'm really NOT trying to get this thing deleted. Just to understand how we judge this.TCO (talk) 16:36, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I got a release confirmation (of original upload) from company and sent in an OTRS. Will figure out how to close this thing. Also, disappointed that no one actually engaged in the issues here...not working as a place to think through copyright.TCO (talk) 18:38, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OTRS permission confirmed in ticket 2011062010006737. Feel free to engage me on my talk page regarding copyright questions or at the main page for it at Commons talk:Licensing. – Adrignola talk 20:35, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
