- Hi KAVEBEAR! It looks like archive has vol. 1 and 2 edited and selected editions Penguin and Dover. Unfortunately doesn't look like these are what you need, look like you need volume 5 in the Cambridge edition, or volume III, part 2 for the Routledge one. fiveby(zero) 01:06, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- If the pages you need fall within his narrative of Cook's death, there's the pamphlet and republished in The death of Captain Cook and other writings. fiveby(zero) 01:38, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- @KAVEBEAR, would you alternatively be interested in a scan of those pages? I don't have an ebook edition, but have access to the book itself. Eddie891 Talk Work 14:47, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

For Tanisha Harper. This model/actress has two different DOBs listed online. Some have 1981 and some have 1985. Classmates.com has some of that high school's yearbooks, but unfortunately it doesn't have any of yearbooks for either 1999 or 2003. Looking for either one of those yearbooks to confirm high school grad year and supporting evidence to determine whether 1981 or 1985 is the correct birth year.

"The author was born into the family of a big bourgeois merchant in Havana , Cuba on October 23 , 1928 . received her elementary and sec- ondary education in Catholic schools . In 1949 she graduated from Havana University with a Doctorate of Law and was awarded the national prize " Ricar- do Dolz y Arango " . In 1951 she joined the International Commission of the Women's International Democratic Federation which visited Korea to investigate the crimes and atrocities committed by US soldiers against the civilian population , women and children included, under cover of the UN flag . On her way back to Cuba , Candelaria was arrested in New York where she was made to board a plane and , on arrival in Havana , was escorted to the Military Intelligence Service and the Bureau of Investigation of Communist Activities from the stairway to the plane . She published a pamphlet entitled What I Saw in Korea and covered the whole island denouncing the crimes she had witnessed . She was repeated- ly thrown into prison for these activities . The Cuban people responded with anti- imperialist and internationalist solidarity to the denunciation and the Cuban government was compelled to refrain from sending troops to fight the frater- nal....."

A book related to Fresh Pond, Cambridge, Massachusetts
[edit]{{resolved}}
- Sinclair, Jill. Fresh Pond: The History of a Cambridge Landscape. ISBN 978-0-262-19591-1.
For the first {{cn}} in Belmont, Massachusetts. Probably page 64, 66 or 107 according to this index I found. Other sources that say that Belmont was annexed for its water supply would also be sufficient. Thanks, Aaron Liu (talk) 02:28, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- According to the Google Books preview, p. 64 says: "Battles over Water Quality: Contemporary records show that, in the 1870s, there was little scientific agreement about the causes of any pollution to the pond's water, or about the best means of protection. [...] The alleged culprits [...] always seemed to be across the town borders in Arlington and, especially Belmont. [...] A report commissioned in 1879 concluded that the city needed to acquire a strip of land around the Fresh Pond shoreline up to fifty rods (about 825 feet) wide, to remove buildings from around the shore, and to annex the parts of the neighboring towns of Belmont and Arlington that abutted the pond." p. 66 says: "After years of mutual invective, Cambridge finally go the upper hand. [...] Cambridge managed to persuade the legislature of its case for annexation. Some 570 acres of Belmont and 70 acres of Arlington were duly transferred to the city of Cambridge." I can request this book from my university's off-site library, but I think this should be enough to validate that claim, though I think it should be edited to clarify what it means by "for its water supply"? For Leslie Hood; we are hoping that it contains WP:SIGCOV of this athlete that would allow this well-crafted article to continue to exist. - @Eddie891 and BilledMammal: That's a shame about the index. I believe the book breaks the history of club into five‑year sections. I think Leslie Hood should appear in the section from 1896–1900 (he played for the club until 1902) and probably features in the team photograph for those years. I think there are around twenty team photographs in the book so that might help locate the right section. There is also a separate section on the club's annual dinners, written by Mark Waters, where Hood may be mentioned (apparently, Hood was also involved in the club's administration). I did not know this service existed and I think it is fantastic that you have managed to locate a copy of the book. Thank you very much to both of you. Gricharduk (talk) 04:40, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

J-LEAGUE TACTICS SOCCER
Year: 1999
Publisher: ASCII Entertainment
Developer: ASCII EntertainmentIF YOU LIKE your Japanese football games but you aren't very skilful then perhaps a Japanese football management game is more your cup of sake. J-League Tactics Soccer has you taking on your favourite J-League team - or, if you don't know any, the one with the best mascot - and trying to guide them to glory. You can even take charge of the Japan national team and try to make them world champions, if your ambition goes that high. The game looks suspiciously like Konami's Perfect Striker / ISS series right down to some of the character animations, but there don't appear to be any signs that Konami were involved in any way.
FACT: If you want to give the game a bit of a personal touch, you can create four players and bring them with you when you start managing your first team.

"Colored Voters Backed Truman". New Journal and Guide
[edit]- (11/13/1948). "Colored Voters Backed Truman". New Journal and Guide (1916-) , p. E8A.
Please send any relevant text that mentions Hubert Humphrey (the mayor of Minneapolis then).
It's for the article Hubert Humphrey. He gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention in 1948 in support of a civil rights platform. The platform was adopted, and its widely considered to have swung the presidential election that year in Harry Truman's favor.
A preview of the title I am able to access goes: "Colored Voters Backed Truman: Majority Found Giving Support To Democratic Party Nominees Truman's Stand On Civil Rights Seen As One Factor In..."
Thanks, Bremps... 03:05, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I have access to the full thing as an image via ProQuest, so I looked through it and transcribed it manually; this is the chunk I found that mentions Humphrey:
Solomon Ucko (talk) 06:36, 8 January 2024 (UTC)An estimated 70% of the Negro vote in Minnesota went for Truman for President and helped elect Minneapolis Mayor Hubert H. Humphrey, civil rights advocate, U. S. senator over Joseph H. Ball, incumbent.
Minnesota Negroes concentrated in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and Duluth, as late as March were found to be 54% in favor of Wallace and only 22% for Truman.
This trend changed drastically in July after Hubert H. Humphrey's fight for a strong civil rights plank at the Democratic convention and the subsequent formation of the Dixiecrat party.
A poll made in August revealed that the Negro voters had left Wallace camp with 68% of those questioned favoring Truman.
St. Paul Negroes helped elect 32-year-old Eugene McCarthy, a young liberal of the Humphrey type, to congress. Minneapolis Negroes of the third district joined in electing Roy Wier, a labor leader, to congress. MacKinnon, his opponent, had held himself aloof from the Negro voters.
- May I ask whether the specific author is credited, and whether you have access to the full title of the paper (what comes after "Factor In")? Thank you very much! Bremps... 12:34, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- No, I do not see a specific author credited.
- Yes; the end of the title is "Election Results".
- Title: Colored Voters Backed Truman
- Sub-title: Majority Found Giving Support To Democratic Party Nominees

The story also appeared on pages 11 and D15 of the same issue; I don't know why they included it thrice.

Textual contents of chapter 7 of James Taylor's (2021) 'Rover SD1: The Full Story 1976-1988'
[edit]- Taylor, James (2021). "Chapter 7: The SD1 in police service". Rover SD1: The Full Story 1976-1988. Ramsbury: Crowood Press. pp. 130–136. ISBN 978-0-00-824451-4. Retrieved 30 December 2023.
For Rover SD1#Police use - this seems to hold a very in-depth account of police specification SD1s that I can't find anywhere else, peculiarly not even in Ant Anstead's Cops and Robbers. This book may also be reliable for the SD1 overall, but that's not what I'm here for - seemingly out of print and going for over £20 online for delivery at the end of January 2024, could anyone provide the textual contents of Chapter 7? So far, all I've been able to find is info on the demo car, a list of police forces who operated Series 1 SD1s, and I suspect the last two items from a list of Series 2 operators.
Kind regards, Hullian111 (talk) 17:43, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like the ISBN you provided is for Cops and Robbers, but the one you're looking for is ISBN 9781785001925?

PC Games review
[edit]For a draft article for a game called Insane 2 in my sandbox (latest revision as of this post), I need the full review from this source. Note that the author also published a review for the same game in PC Action, but it is possible that the PC Games review has more depth, and this source has the advantage of being a premier source for PC gaming in Germany anyway.

- @FreeMediaKid!: the text is identical to the one in PC Action, only the infoboxes are somewhat expanded. Please send me a wikimail, I will mail you the scan in return. FordPrefect42 (talk) 11:51, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
I was busy off-site (uploading material to the Internet Archive, if anyone is curious), but I did receive the review. A brief comparison of the texts does suggest they are identical. A little disappointing, but not surprising either. I have seen this happen before on at least one other occasion and again just recently during my Archive work. The infoboxes are somewhat larger. On top of that, the one containing the author's opinion is more thorough, and the PC Games appears to be the origin of the review, predating the PC Action version by a month. All right, I will resume work on the Insane 2 article within a week. FreeMediaKid$ 20:45, 10 January 2024 (UTC) {{Resolved}}
