Needing photos

[edit]

Senegal articles needing photos may be tagged with {{reqphoto|in=Senegal}}. Those tagged need photos can be found at : Category:Wikipedia_requested_photographs_in_Senegal.

In addition to posting your image requests on the talk page(s) of the subject(s) and on the Wikimedia Commons (Commons:Commons:Picture requests), please also post them at fr:Wikipédia:Atelier photographique on the French Wikipedia. If you do not know French, you can ask someone at fr:Wikipédia:Bistro_des_non-francophones/en to help you.

Available photos

[edit]

Public domain images of Senegal are available from a number of sources. These include:

  • Wikipedia Commons: Senegal
  • Images taken by United States Federal government employees in the course of their duties. An example would be www.usaid.gov.
  • Historic postcards, which flourished in the two decades prior to WWI. If they were published in the US PRIOR to 1923, or the author died more than 70 years ago, they are Public Domain. Examples can be found here: the website of a collection of old postcards from Saint-Louis, Senegal.

Currently Needing work

[edit]

If you're working on an article and you'd like to bring it to the attention of other editors, list it here, and/or discuss it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Senegal. There should be no more than 20 articles listed at one time. Put the newest at the top and delete from the bottom when the total is over 20.

Format: # [[Article title]], class. Details on what should be done (optional). ~~~~

  1. Dakar, is currently only B class, and kind of a mess. A good street/neighborhood map whould be helpful, along with in depth looks at historical places, districts, and culture. T L Miles (talk) 18:16, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. French Language Wikipedia has a schema of articles making up the History of Senegal. All these need English Language equivalents: fr:Modèle:Portail Sénégal/Histoire. T L Miles (talk) 01:03, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
—I have translated many articles from French Wikipedia to English but they are mostly related to Serer people and their history. Currently organising and creating Serer related articles. See Category:Serer people and Portal:Serer (under construction). Perhaps a Task Force may reduce the pressure on Project Senegal.Tamsier (talk) 17:24, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  3. (Not an article, but portal issue) : I have updated Portal:Senegal and created new sub-pages all of which can be found at Category:Senegal portal. The portal needs regular participants to keep it updated and also to add the portal to relevant articles. Our portal system has changed so drastically nowadays where many portals are being mass deleted for lacking maintainers and views.Thanks.Tamsier (talk) 10:40, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
