Ideogrammic compound (會意会意) and phono-semantic compound (形聲形声, OC *kʰraŋ) : semantic (two men facing each other) + phonetic (OC *pqrɯɡ, *pqrɯb, *krɯb, *qʰaŋ, food vessel with a stand) – people engaged in ritual feasting (Yang, 1965).
