Etymology

Inherited from Byzantine Greek βαριοῦμαι (barioûmai)[1] from the Ancient Greek βαρέομαι, βαροῦμαι (baréomai, baroûmai), of active βαρέω, βαρῶ (baréō, barô, weigh down), from βαρύς (barús, heavy).[2] Τhe endings according to the sequence: -οῦμαι > -ιοῦμαι > -ιέμαι.[3].
