[edit]From early мо́лвити (mólviti) with labiovelarization -olv- > -oŭv- > -ov-, inherited from Old East Slavic мъ́лвити (mŭ́lviti), from Proto-Slavic *mъ̀lviti, from *mъ̀lva; or continues Proto-Balto-Slavic *múlˀwīˀtei, from Proto-Indo-European *ml̥wH-éye-ti, from *mlewH-.[1] By surface analysis, мо́ва (móva) + -ити (-iti).
