Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *bʰreh₁ǵ- (“to shine”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬠𐬭𐬁𐬰𐬀𐬌𐬙𐬌 (brāzaiti), Persian برازیدن (barâzidan), Lithuanian brėkšti, Proto-Slavic *brězgъ (“dawn”), Albanian bardhë, English bright, Welsh berth.
