Welcome
[edit]Welcome
[edit]Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~
) which automatically produces your username and timestamp. - You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.
Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Ultimateria (talk) 21:06, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
[edit]Please stop removing the {{also}}
templates from the pages you are adding entries to. You should also place the L2 in the correct place; languages on a page come in alphabetical order (except Translingual and English are always first, in that order). — SURJECTION / T / C / L / 12:58, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
you are messing up left and right, please slow down or stop
[edit]Hi. I started reviewing your recent contributions, and there are tons of mistakes. Either be more careful or stop.
- In milyon, you put the language code as 'lou' = Louisiana Creole French when it should be 'ht' = Haitian Creole.
- In fwa, you say this is etymologically derived from French heure; obviously wrong.
- In pè the formatting and placement of the definition is wrong.
- In dousman you say French doucement means "slowly"; it does not.
These are just in the first few entries I reviewed. I suspect there are tons of other mistakes. Please correct them and be more careful in the future; otherwise you may be blocked. Benwing2 (talk) 02:22, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- You are making new entries but you didn't clean up all the old entries that were messed up. See for example Category:Haitian Creole adjs, which should be empty ('adjective' not 'adj' in the headword). Please review *all* your old entries and clean them up, thanks! I don't exactly know Japanese well but from what I do know, what you have done here seems wrong. 死んだ is a conjugated form of 死ぬ isn't it? If it is it's wrong to say it's an alternative form as you have put in this entry. Acolyte of Ice (talk) 10:35, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, and I have a question for you; Category:Japanese past tense verb forms contains only 6 pages. Do you think this Category is really needed? Praqimu (talk) 11:35, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- IDK really, I would like it to be populated but it seems as though historically Japanese editors have seldom bothered to create entries for non-lemma forms of Japanese adjectives and verbs. Perhaps you should look for editors here who actually do have good knowledge of Japanese to discuss the addition of these kinds of forms. Acolyte of Ice (talk) 12:06, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. Praqimu (talk) 12:16, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Similar problem with 一溜まりもなく; I recommend you stop making such entries until you are more familiar with Wiktionary and with Japanese. —Fish bowl (talk) 08:57, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
Baybayin forms
[edit]I think you should either slow down or avoid mass-creating entries for Baybayin forms of Tagalog or Cebuano terms. It rather distracts from tracking of more recent entries in Latin script. Thanks. TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 21:41, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- I apologize that I bothered you, but what is the problem that I create those entries? Is the problem that I create Baybayin forms even though I don't exactly know about Tagalog and Cebuano? It seems there're not so many problems with my creating entries for those (because those haven't been deleted). --Praqimu (talk) 02:00, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
- It's rather their creation is unnecessarily distracting, given those forms are listed as lemma. TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 21:22, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Meh. Thanks.--Praqimu (talk) 04:00, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
