Etymology

From Middle Low German bekomen, from Old Saxon biqueman, bikuman, from Proto-Germanic *bikwemaną. Equivalent to be- +‎ komma.

  1. to bother
    Kylan bekommer mig inte så mycket som vinden (gör).
    The cold doesn't bother me as much as the wind (does).

Usage notes

The present tense subjunctive bekomme is also in use in the phrase väl bekomme.
