- Used to emphasize the verb in negative sentences; not at all, not in the least, no, any.
- Zavallı yaşlı kadın ne yapacağını hiç bilmiyordu. ― The poor old woman did not in the least know what to do.
- Bakıyorum gidişimi kutlamakta hiç zaman kaybetmemişsin. ― I see you didn't waste any time celebrating my departure.
- Havalimanını aradığımızda öğrendik ki uçağa hiç binmemiş. ― When we called the airport we found out that she didn't board the plane at all.
- Used to indicate an indefinite time period, mainly in sentences regarding life experiences; ever, never.
- Hiç Türkiye'de bulundunuz mu? ― Have you ever been to Turkey?
- Bu kadar yavaş giden birini hiç görmemiştim. ― I have never seen anyone move that slow.
