  1. (transitive) To have a particular disease or condition.
    He suffered from cholera.

Usage notes

  • Many people advise against describing a disabled person as suffering from the condition that relates to their status as a disabled person and suggest describing a disabled person as "having", "living with", or "experiencing" that condition instead.
