Katedral Ely

Katedral Ely, Cambridgeshire, Inggris

Katedral Ely adalah katedral Anglikan di kota Ely, Cambridgeshire, Inggris. Bekas biara Saxon yang dibangun pada 673, dihancurkan oleh Viking kemudian dipulihkan sesuai dengan Peraturan Santo Benediktus pada 970. Setelah Penaklukan Inggris oleh Norman, gereja dibangun kembali dengan nama Saint Peter and the Virgin oleh Abbas Simeon (1081-1093) dan menjadi takhta keuskupan pada 1109. Setelah pembubaran biara pada 1539, Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Ely menjadi induk keuskupan Ely, di wilayah Anglia Timur. Katedral Ely adalah tujuan wisata utama, menerima sekitar 250.000 pengunjung per tahun, dan menopang pola harian kebaktian pagi dan sore hari.
