Montesquieu in Latin

[fontem recensere]

I of course don't add names to Index philosophorum unless I have a source (unfortunately I wrote that page before there was a <ref>-tag, so I didn't note anything). Looking at WorldCat again, I see no Latin name used by Montesquieu himself, but some used by others:

  • 1839 Iani Heemskerk:[1] Speciminis inauguralis. De Montesquivio.
  • 1839 Delbrück: Ad impugnandam Montesquievii sententiam de principio, unde regnorum integritas et salus petendae sint
  • 1892 Émile Durkheim [sic]: Quid Secundatus politicae scientiae instituendae contulerit

If we could find a name Montesquieu himself used, I would change the page immediately. If I wrote the page myself, I would use the name i listed in Index philosophorum. However, since neither is the case here, I leave it open to discussion. --Iustinus 22:29, 3 Septembris 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  1. As is common in such dissertations, the author's Latin name is not given, but references list him as both Janus Heemskerk and Janus Heemskerk, so it's a fair bet the latter is his Latin name as it appears in the diss.

Effigiem nuper ad Communia e Vicipaedia Hispanica sublevatam ad interim removi, quia neque homo depictus neque origo delineationis pro certo habentur. Quibus rebus relatis, is qui vult restituere potest! Paucae Montesquivii effigies nobis praebentur, quarum nisi fallor omnes, ista excepta, e simulacro classicizante Academiae Francicae derivantur. Id simulacrum Academicum apud Vicidata substitui ego: ergo in capsa hoc tempore videmus. Si inde disparebit, possumus idem simulacrum sicut imaginem liberam in nostra pagina inserere.
