Ninel
I was born and lived in Romania until just after the Revolution, lived in US during both Bush and Clinton's administrations and currently live in Canada since Harper's first PM term. My current main interests include history, numismatics, linguistics, phylogenetics, cosmogony, quantum mechanics, finance, math history, number theory, and US/Canadian politics. I am a borderline compulsive hoarder and bibliomaniac. I also have interests in football, baseball, hockey and basketball.
Some of my favorite authors and auteurs are (in semi-random order): Jules Verne, Charles Baudelaire, Aldous Huxley, Philip K. Dick, Neal Stephenson, Margaret Atwood, Mircea Eliade, Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, Eugène Ionesco, Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, Ingmar Bergman, Alfred Hitchcock, Hayao Miyazaki, Sergio Leone, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Wes Anderson, Lars von Trier.
My music tastes are eclectic: from classical music/symphonic music/opera (e.g. Bach, Mahler, Ravel, Verdi, Wagner, Chopin) to choral music (e.g. Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Bulgarian Female Choir, Russian Army Choir, Vienna Boys' Choir) to all varieties of rock music/pop music to world music/new-age music (e.g. Dead Can Dance) to electronica (e.g. Vangelis, Enigma, Kraftwerk) to jazz (e.g. Miles Davis, The Bad Plus) to reggae (e.g. The Police) to hip hop music/rap (e.g. N.W.A, Snoop Dogg, Beastie Boys, Eminem) to Klezmer/Romani music/folk music (e.g. Taraf de Haïdouks, The Klezmatics) to space music (e.g. TC's podcast[1]) to minimalism (e.g. Philip Glass) to comedy music (e.g. "Weird Al" Yankovic, Jim Stafford, Ada Milea).
