Hjo Municipality (Hjo kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland Coonty in wastren Swaden. Its seat is locatit in the ceety o Hjo.
The municipality wis creatit in 1971, when the Ceety o Hjo wis amalgamatit wi a pairt o the rural municipality Värsås. In 1974 pairts o Fröjered an Fågelås wur addit.
Geography
[eedit | eedit soorce]Geographically it is situatit bi the wastren shore o Lake Vättern. The muckle an fish-rich watters hae been the main influence on the industry. The mucklest rivulet intersectin the municipality frae Vättern is the Hjo River. Pairts o it hae been made a natur reserve. Pairtly this is due tae the salmon (Salmo trutta) an the grayling (Thymallus thymallus) that occur natural in the rivulet, but hae haed haurd times due tae dams.
