Lom, Norway
Appearance
Lom is a municipality in Oppland area of Innlandet county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Gudbrandsdal. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Fossbergom. The municipality of Lom was established on 1 January 1838.
Geography
[change | change source]Lom sits at the base of two mountains. Glittertind is 2,452 metres (8,045 ft) and Galdhøpiggen is 2,469 metres (8,100 ft) high.[1]
History
[change | change source]It has one of the few remaining stave churches in Norway.[2] The church was built in 1158.[1]
The area of Skjåk was separated from Lom to become a municipality of its own in 1866.
