Walter Knaller (born 24 October 1957) was an Austrian football striker and later manager.[1]
Playing career
[change | change source]He started his career with SV Feldkirchen and Amateure St. Veit in Carinthia. From 1980 to 1990 Knaller was active in the Austrian Bundesliga for Admira Wacker Mödling. The he moved to FC Linz. In 1992 he played for VfB Mödling. His last club was Kremser FC.
Managerial career
[change | change source]Knaller began his coaching career at FC Admira Wacker. In July 1993 he moved to FC Linz. With FC Linz he reached the Cupfinal 1994. But after just one year he moved back to FC Admira Wacker. In November 1997 he moved to SK Austria Klagenfurt. With Klagenfurt he reached the promotion to second division of the Bundesliga. In January 2002 he was again active as a coach at FC Admira Wacker Mödling. In April 2008 he became the sports director at the youth academy of Admira.
From September 19, 2013 to April 6, 2015, Walter Knaller was head coach of FC Admira Wacker Mödling. After the amicable separation from Admira, he went to Rapid Vienna as a youth coach. In 2021 he started as junior coach at FC Admira Wacker Mödling.[2]
Personal life
[change | change source]Walter Knaller's brothers, Wolfgang Knaller, Erich Knaller, Werner Knaller, Hermann Knaller and Bernhard Knaller, and his nephew Marco Knaller are also football players or coaches.
