Chela, the "Talon of Onyx Prime" and the "Golden Warrior" was one of the original Titans. Loyal to Onyx Prime and supremely distrustful of "standard-formers", Chela eventually colonized the untamed world of Eukaris to create a safe haven for beast mode Transformers.

According to legend, Chela was one of the original three Titans alongside the first, Metroplex and Chela's "mate," Metrotitan, having fought alongside Primus in the days of the Guiding Hand. In the distant past, they were summoned by Onyx Prime in the battle leading up to the unification of the Thirteen and their tribes. Origin Myths Chela remained loyal to Onyx Prime during his reign over Kalis. When the First Cybertronian Civil War swept the planet ten million years ago, Chela fought for his master and joined his Titan brethren as they exiled Vigilem, Titan of the evil Liege Maximo, from their ranks. Rubicon

At the end of the war, Chela and the other colony Titans departed Cybertron in the hopes of founding new outposts for Cybertronian civilization. First Contact According to the latter-day inhabitants of Eukaris, Onyx and Chela discovered the world that would become Eukaris; Chela settled the planet and used the hot spot within his body to spawn a new civilization of beast mode Transformers. Remembering the discrimination of his kind had faced on Cybertron, Onyx's last command to his Titan was to defend Eukaris from intruding "standard-formers" by any means necessary. Chela eventually went dormant beneath Talon Valley, though legends and stories of his existence persisted in Eukarian culture.

His chance finally came when Windblade and Starscream set foot on the planet. Chela awoke and burst from the ground, ready to destroy the invaders. Windblade managed to avoid his talons and flew inside of him, hoping to reach his brain chamber so that she could use her Cityspeaker talents to calm him down. He retaliated by pinning her down with pieces of his own internal structure and blocking her off. Starscream managed to best the Titan by simply shooting his brain module, killing him.

Although Windblade was saddened by Chela's death, Blackarachnia consoled her by telling her that the incident was part of a prophecy she had foreseen, and that Chela's passing was the first step to changing Eukaris for the better. Windblade vol. 2 #6

On returning to Cybertron, Windblade tried to work through her grief with Metroplex. Metroplex assured her that Chela was a stubborn being and would never have allowed himself to be saved by anyone. The Will of the Few

Notes

  • "Chela" (pronounced like "Chris", not like "chip") is Latin for "claw". In modern parlance, it more specifically refers to the pincer of a crab.
