Combination Core

The Combination Core is an attempt at creating an artificial Enigma of Combination. It is housed in a massive pit that contains and harnesses the ancient energies that allow a group of individuals to form a combiner.

Thunderwing sheltered the amoral scientist Airachnid on the orbital colony of Hexagon and allowed her unholy experiments to synthetically replicate the Artifacts of the Primes, including the Enigma of Combination. Once built, the Combination Core took up an entire section of the colony but remained untested until the Technobots arrived on Hexagon as part of Colonial Security to investigate potential criminal activity. Strafe and Lightspeed stumbled upon the housing for the Combination Core and were confronted by Airachnid. The other Technobots were also attacked by Thunderwing's lackeys and regrouped in the Core room, where Airachnid's attack knocked Scattershot into the Core itself. The Combination Core was absorbed into Scattershot and its energies reached out, merging him and his team into Computron. The newborn combiner destructively lashed out in confusion and Thunderwing was forced to eject the entire section of Hexagon that contained the Core out into space, Computron included. In the aftermath, the de-merged Technobots tried to figure out what had happened to them and Scattershot noted that the Enigma energy was still suffused in his body. Light/Star
Upon their return to Cybertron, Scattershot explained what happened to Optimus Prime and how the Combination Core was part of him now. The Landscape of Fear Scattershot drew upon its energies again to add an additional five components to the mix and form a larger, ten-strong Computron during the battle of Darkmount.
