During the Maximals' time travel back to Cybertron after the Beast Wars, Megatron escaped his captivity and was sucked into the time stream to arrive on Cybertron an "eternity" before the Maximals did. Revelations Part II: Descent Having gone into hiding in Cybertropolis, Megatron developed a hatred for the organic part of his body, along with the ambition not only to rule his planet but also to purge it of all organic and otherwise chaotic elements. To accomplish this, he created an incapacitation virus and unleashed it on the Cybertronian population. For those who managed to avoid this first assault, he had several of Cybertropolis's manufacturing plants reprogrammed to build him an army of drones, the Vehicons, which tracked down and neutralized them. Forbidden Fruit The captives were brought to spark extraction plants, where their bodies were discarded Revelations Part I: Discovery and their sparks put on transports to the Council Citadel, Fires of the Past Sparkwar Pt. II: The Search which Megatron had made his residence after subjugating the Council of Elders. Master of the House

When the Maximals themselves finally arrived, they were greeted by being blasted out of the sky by Cybertron's defense systems, and their ship crashed down in Cybertropolis. Some of the Vehicons moved out to confiscate it and store it in one of the hangars of the Central Spaceport, Fires of the Past while the rest hunted down its passengers. Rhinox and Silverbolt were captured, Revelations Part II: Descent but the rest escaped and eventually found one another again in and under the vast city. Deciding it was safer for them to stay below ground for a while, the group descended deep into the Catacombs, where they discovered the Oracle, the new identity of the legendary supercomputer Vector Sigma. The Oracle reformatted them into technorganic beings to fight the threat above ground. The Reformatting Still, Optimus Primal believed it wise to keep a low profile a little longer, and he split up the team to find a location suitable to turn into their base. Blackarachnia was teamed up with Cheetor, whom she easily convinced to explore above ground with her. Realizing the peculiar absence of the entire population, Blackarachnia suggested they look up the reason on the Cybertron InfoCore. They tried to access the database through one of the public pods located nearby and found out it had been deleted. An attack by the Aero Drones reunited them with the rest of the team, to whom they relayed their findings. Optimus Primal proposed that if there existed any answers to what had happened to Cybertron, those were to be found in the Council Citadel. Upon arriving there, the team came under attack by Tank Drones. Optimus gave the Maximals the order to fend off the drones while he investigated inside the citadel. Making his way into the core chamber of the building, Optimus discovered Megatron inside his chosen throne room. Megatron's taunts easily provoked Optimus into an uneven fight, but the other Maximals caught up with him just in time to drag him to safety. Master of the House

Cybertropolis was the budding center of Cybertron until Acid Storm and his gang showed up to ruin the city and bully the inhabitants. They were defeated by a heroic Bot Shot, allowing the city to be restored. Bot Shots Battle Game!

Notes

• Cybertropolis was named after Kryptonopolis from the DC Comics by Bob Skir.
• The idea to make Cybertropolis built over the ruins of Iacon was due to Bob responding to fan feedback online about why he didn't just use Iacon instead of creating this new city so he decided to write that into the show.
