Drench (G2)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Drench" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Drench (disambiguation). |
- Drench is an Autobot Color Changer from the Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Drench can drive very fast in vehicle mode, but his mind is quicker yet. He puts this flow of knowledge to work in the laboratory, staying up far past his recharging time on Kremzeek-fueled invention binges. At these times he is completely caught up in his research, like a youthful Perceptor, and from this research comes a steady stream of powerful tools for Autobot warfare, built by his own skilled manipulators.
To his army buddies, however, Drench is just a young bot who thrives on excitement, and a valuable companion in a firefight. They value him for his ironclad courage, but equally for his skill with the weapons he builds. Of these, his favorites are those which rely on high-pressure fluids.
Drench probably finds it irritating when fellow Transformers confuse him with Deluge.

Toys
Generation 2
- Drench (Color Change, 1993)
- Accessories: Double water cannon
- Known designers: Andy Couzens (Hasbro), Takio Ejima (TakaraTomy), Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- Generation 2 Drench transforms into a Mazda 787B LeMans-style race car. In both vehicle and robot modes, he has a double-barreled water-cannon that uses a plastic bellows to store water. The cannon is a tad unwieldy as he can't hold it unless both his arms are pegged into it, and then he won't stand unless you bend his knees and have his body lean back. His hood/chest color changes from dark green to a milky-white with temperature changes, but faster in cold or warm water (warm for light, cold for dark).
- There is a variation to Drench's water-cannon; one version has painted-gold gun-tips, while later releases have unpainted yellow tips and uses a larger bellows.
- Drench is almost identical to the European Aquaspeeder Deluge. The most immediately obvious difference is that Drench uses transparent-black plastics for his windows and visor, though the colors on the decals are different between the two versions as well.
- The non-toy Shattered Glass Drench shares this mold, but his red eyes have more in common with Deluge.
Notes
- Like all the Color Changers, American Generation 2 Drench is a hodgepodge of various elements of two different European-market Aquaspeeders, as well as one of the European-market Stormtroopers: His toy is redecoed from European Aquaspeeder Deluge, his name comes from European Stormtrooper Drench, and his bio and motto both come from European Aquaspeeder Jetstorm.
- Drench's car mode color scheme was used in a proposed—but ultimately unreleased—Universe Battle in a Box set. The toy would have been a redeco of Armada Wheeljack. What the character originally would have been is unknown, but the design was used years later (with a few alterations) to create BotCon 2008's Shattered Glass Sideswipe.
- Like most other cameo Kreons, Kre-O Drench is made from existing Kre-O pieces: in this case, the Soundwave helmet, and a gun created from 1X1 blocks with a few additional pieces (though what piece he is using to hold it is unclear).
