Synopsis
Whirl is enjoying her wind tunnel when Chase arrives to see if she's ready to go on a police ride-along. They head to Griffin Rock through the GroundBridge and arrive at MOFTA—the Museum of Future Tech Art—which houses tech-infused art including the "Mano e Nano", a nanotech sculpture created by Doc Greene. Chase explains it symbolizes the partnership of humans and bots. The pair have to ensure the museum is safe for the grand opening the next day, so they set about installing and testing security measures. They're just finishing as a lightning flash interrupts the power for a moment. To their horror, the "Mano e Nano" is gone, with only an unidentified substance left behind. They check the camera feeds only to find the lightning knocked those out too. Reviewing earlier footage gives them a clue: known criminals Evan and Myles were skulking around the museum earlier that day.
They find the pair conducting experiments with a new substance, though Myles insists they're going legit and were only at the MOFTA because they were mistaken when opening day was. Chase is unconvinced, and decides to go get more conclusive evidence. Whirl has other suspicions and so Chase suggests they split up and pursue their own lines of inquiry. The following night, Chase has Even and Myles meet him at MOFTA, where he reveals he knows the bank turned them down for a business loan, which gives them motive, and the substance at the crime scene resembles the substance they were experimenting on. Whirl arrives with Doc Greene who reveals that the unidentified substance is actually the "Mano e Nano" in its unbonded form. Doc Greene explains he didn't allow for the possibility of nearby lightning strikes, and Chase apologizes to Evan and Myles.

Quotes
"So are we about to go on an all-night stakeout? If so, I'll bring the doughnuts. Also what are doughnuts?"
"I think they are like puffy cookies, but let's not worry about that right now."
- —Whirl and Chase
"This piece speaks to me."
"It does?! Where's the speaker? What's it saying?"
"For a long time I took things very literally as you just did, but my time with humans has taught me much. This art doesn't speak out loud, it speaks to my spark."
- —Chase and Whirl on art.
"You know what else is 'pretty cool'? Being a law-abiding citizen."
- —Chase
"Everyone has something in their past they're not proud of."
"Not me. I've always done everything by the book and above board. We will be back for you two. With proof. Proof enough to build a new museum installation. Of justice."
- —Myles and Chase
Notes
Continuity notes
- Doc Greene was a regular in Rescue Bots, and has been absent from its sequel show until now.
- Evan and Myles were, of course, recurring antagonists in Rescue Bots and were last seen being taken back to prison. They have, as Myles explains, served their time.
Transformers references
- TBA
Real-world references
- Police officers liking doughnuts is a well-worn cliche at this point.
- The discus-throwing statue in front of MOFTA is specifically based on Discobolus.
- Nanotechnology is, of course, a concept borrowed from the real world.
Animation and technical errors
- The title for this episode as shown onscreen is "Mystery Museum ", which is both backwards and has a space before the closing quote.
Trivia
- Autobot font featured on the display on Chase's tablet includes:
- "BUMWEDGE" (backwards) under a picture of Bumblebee and Wedge.
- "HOTMUS" (backwards) under a picture of Hot Shot in Optimus Prime's arms.
- "KILLBEE" (backwards) at the top, presumably recycled from "Bee Prepared".
- Chase, what have you been browsing?
- Whirl's HUD when scanning for footprints reads "MISSION", "DETECTING", and "ACTIVITY".
- Evan and Myles have a picture of Hoist and Whirl on their wall with "HEARTS OF CYBERTRON" written in Autobot font.
