Padlock (G1)

Padlock is an Autobot from the Wings Universe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Padlock is a member of the Artillery Team in the Elite Guard. A consummate sniper, Padlock acts as the man on the ground for his high-flying and heavily armed teammates. Skilled at marksmanship in his own right, Padlock nevertheless often functions as a spotter, painting a laser targeting sight on the enemy position to help guide in the artillery payloads of Windsail, Clear Out, or the mighty Halonix Maximus. Padlock once served as warden for Rura Penthe, one of the most infamous prisons in Iacon. It was perhaps there that he first began his self-imposed vow of silence, leaving many casual observers to believe he is actually mute.^[1]

Wings Universe

Padlock acted as a spotter for Halo during a bombing run on Megatron's forces. He trained his laser sight over the hapless Datamine and Deadbolt moments before "Gigantron" rained down death from above on the Decepticon position.

After the disappearance of the Combaticons, the Artillery Team and the Recon Team were assigned to a search and rescue mission to locate any signs of the missing Elite Guardsmen. A Team Effort They needn't have worried. Padlock and the other Elite Guard teams were present at headquarters when the Combaticons attacked on behalf of their new master, the Decepticon Warlord named Deathsaurus. The Coming Storm: Part 5 In the battle that followed against the Combaticons' combined form, Bruticus, Padlock and the rest of the Elite Guard were nearly wiped out. The Coming Storm: Part 6

Notes

• Padlock's color scheme was based on that of a GoBot.^[2] Between the blue legs, black crotch, and orange/blue chest, it was most likely the Renegade Fly Trap.
