The Vok return to Earth to continue the battle against Tarantulas's evil.

Contents

Synopsis

On prehistoric Earth, the Vok return to find the Beast Warriors departed, only remnants of their war left behind. They use the Matrix of Leadership from Optimus Prime, the Transmetal driver, and the control suit to create Primal Prime, then recreate Airazor and Tigatron as Transmetals. Meanwhile, Tarantulas and Ravage have both been revived from the dead and are making a new army of Predacons.

Notes

Continuity notes

  • Following on from the events of the Beast Wars cartoon, this comic aims to complete the Vok subplot. Tarantulas had been thought destroyed in "Other Victories", in which Tigerhawk first appeared—he would go on to die in the last episode of the series, paving the way for the Vok to revive Airazor and Tigatron in this comic.
  • The "datasphere" is the Transmetal driver, last seen when Blackarachnia was converted to a Transmetal 2.
  • Primal Prime's frame is made from the exo-suit used by Quickstrike in "Master Blaster". Apparently, the Maximals just left it lying around the Ark to mess with the timeline.
  • This comic corrects an error seen in "Optimal Situation", albeit in a somewhat odd way—Optimus Prime's spark holder, which was mistakenly based on the Matrix, hides the true Matrix underneath.
  • Also in "Optimal Situation", Ravage's head was seen to tumble down a canyon into a river, letting Tigatron's spark be infused into it. Ravage himself, meanwhile, seems to have been recreated by Tarantulas.

Transformers references

  • The Vok claim to be guardians of something called "the one". In "Other Voices, Part 1", they declared "That which does not become part of the one—shall become void." It is not yet explained here, but "Primeval Dawn Part 3" would later conflate "the one" with "the plan", as in Primus's Grand Plan, and would refer to "the one and the all" as both the plan and those for whom the plan is intended. As in "'Til all are one."
  • Tigatron is in his BotCon body, of course. Airazor has been given her Beast Wars Transmetal form, while Tarantulas gains his the colors of his Fox Kids Transmetal toy. Ravage, meanwhile, is in his Transmetal 2 Tripredacus Agent toy body—Tarantulas lampshades the fact that his toy couldn't be called Ravage in dialogue, by referring to him as "Tripredacus Agent".
  • Behind Ravage on the last page are tubes that appear to be... growing what the next chapter would show to be Iguanus and Razorclaw. How exactly they were created is unclear—perhaps they were leftover protoforms, or Tarantulas used his new abilities to make them.

Other notes

  • There isn't really a reason given for why the Vok split Airazor and Tigatron back into separate sparks instead of just bringing Tigerhawk back.
  • Tarantulas claims his death was a ruse. This is an odd retcon as (so far as Tarantulas knew) nobody was watching him except Tigerhawk, and it didn't help his plans to destroy the Ark to sit by and watch others pilfer his refurbished Nemesis.
