Soundwave. Quantity of merchandise: sufficient.
Transformers Design Center
- Design Center (1984)
- Manufactured by Arrow, the Soundwave Design Center was a box in the general shape and likeness of Soundwave which contained various arts and crafts projects for young tykes to entertain themselves with. His head pulled out to reveal a ruler, the right arm contained a pencil sharpener, the left contained a hilariously dinky and useless pair of "scissors", his lower legs contained rubbing-transfer panels, and the entire back worked as a sort of pantograph machine - attaching a nib to one end of the large mechanical armature ostensibly allowed you to 'remote draw' designs on the included plates.
Transformers Cassette Player
- Cassette Player (1985)
- A non-Transforming cassette player in the shape of Soundwave in his robot mode (oh the irony!), made by Hasbro in 1985. It runs on 3 C batteries (not included, of course).
Transformers Milk Caramel
- Soundwave (1985)
- One of Kabaya's first Transformers candy toy lines, the Transformers Milk Caramel series featured small rubber figures, similar to the later-released Decoys, but smaller, flatter and based more on the toys, rather than their animation models. Soundwave was available in numerous different colors.
Transformers Gum
- Soundwave (1985)
- Accessories: Rocket launcher, rocket
- A model kit of Soundwave was available as part of Kabaya's Transformers Gum range of figures. Released in the first wave of the series and standing at about four inches tall, he was moulded from red, black and grey plastic and featured stickers for detail. Although armed with only one of his guns and lacking the ability to store it in his battery compartment like the original toy could, he retains his opening chest door. Although Transformers Gum versions of some of Soundwave's cassettes would later be released, they proved too large to fit in Gum Soundwave's chest; he could, however, accommodate the smaller cassettes released as part of Kabaya's other candy toy model kit series, Transformers Choco.
- This Soundwave figure was later re-released in 1997 by a Korean company named Toon Town, in a two-pack with the "Transformers Gum" version of Optimus Prime.
Decoy
- Destron Hero Collection 22 (multi-pack, 1985)
- This small purple rubber figurine of Soundwave was released in Japan as part of a large multi-pack of similar figures, which were used as playing pieces for Transformers board games. The figure features a number etched into its back which is the sum total of Soundwave's Tech Spec ratings, which served some function in the gameplay the figures were used for. A peach-colored version of Soundwave could be found packed in various other multi-packs the following year, and in numerous other colours as part of the blindpacked Transformers Ramune line.
- Soundwave (1987)
- Decoy number: 36
- The Soundwave figurine was later brought over to Hasbro markets as part of the Decoy promotion, largely identical to the Japanese release except for the fact that the number on his back was replaced with a simple "checklist" number (36, in Soundwave's case). Like all Decepticon Decoys, he was a randomly-chosen pack-in available with the carded Throttlebots, Stunticons, Combaticons, and Terrorcons, and was, very early on in the promotion, available in an alternate red coloration that was only packed in with the Throttlebots. Unsurprisingly, this red figurine is much rarer.
Super Collection Figure
- Soundwave (2001)
- Act: 3
- Accessories: Stand
- A three-inch tall PVC figurine of Soundwave was available in the third wave of Takara's Super Collection Figure line. Like all the figures in the wave, it was available as both a standard full color figure and a colorless clear plastic version, one of each of which was available in a standard case of twelve blindpacked figures.
- In two out of every ten cases, the color version of Soundwave came with the right arm of the wave's collectible Fortress Maximus "build-a-figure". This part could be either full-color or clear plastic, at a ratio of 1:1.
- Soundblaster (2002)
- Act: 6
- Accessories: Stand
- Soundwave's PVC was recolored into his black Headmasters incarnation, Soundblaster, for the sixth SCF Act. This time, the figure was available in a variant metallic silver "pewter" color scheme, at the same ratio of one each per standard case. The full-color version is actually cast in transparent red plastic and painted over entirely save his chest-window.
- In eight out of every ten cases, pewter Soundblaster came packaged with the right leg of this wave's Grand Maximus build-a-figure. This part could be in either full color or pewter, in the very unequal ratio of six color parts to every two pewter.
- This Act was seemingly in shorter supply than the others before and since, and is not terribly common on the secondary market.
- The pewter version of the figure has a potential problem with connector peg breakage at the joints, due to said pegs often getting a layer of pewter paint before being forced into a socket, leading to sticking and tearing. Care should be used when moving or removing the arms; shaving down the socket interior with a thin hobby knife is usually sufficient to fix the issue.
Heroes of Cybertron
- Soundwave (2003)
- The original Soundwave SCF figure was later released by Hasbro as part of the third wave of the Heroes of Cybertron series. Like all figures in the line, this release of Soundwave differed from his SCF counterpart by being cast entirely in translucent red plastic and then painted over, save for his eyes, allowing for a light-piping effect. There are a few other minor differences, namely the vents on the sides of his helmet being white instead of black, he uses a paler shade of yellow, and his, um, groin-buttons being a solid block of white rather than individually painted.
- Rather than being blindpacked, Soundwave was sold on an individual blister pack with a profile card included.
- Soundwave was re-released in 2006 as part of a short-lived Heroes of Cybertron revival, celebrating the 2006 DVD release of the original The Transformers: The Movie. Soundwave was mostly the same as the previous HOC release, except for being cast in solid rather than translucent plastic. His paint applications are more in-line with the original SCF, with black vents and separately-painted groin-buttons.
Hard Hero
- Soundwave (2002)
- The fourth in Hard Hero's series of Transformers busts, Soundwave is 6 inches tall and made out of cold-cast porcelain. 100 copies of the bust were signed by sculptor Jason Ray.
MyClone
- Soundwave (2003)
- Japanese ID number: MTF012
- Accessories: Blue display stand
- Known designers: Kazutami Yasuhiko (TakaraTomy)
- Released in the second wave of the MyClone line of Transformers PVC figures, this super deformed Soundwave comes with a hexagonal blue display stand, which can link up with the identical stands included with other MyClone figures. His modular design allows his parts to be mixed and matched with those of any other MyClone figure.
Q-Robo Collection
- Soundwave (2003)
- Accessories: Laserbeak
- A super-deformed PVC of Soundwave was released as part of the Q-Robo Collection, and included a removable Laserbeak figure that could fit into his chest, as if in mid-ejection. Like all the figures in the series, it was sold blindpacked in a plastic capsule, featured articulation in the neck and shoulders, and was also available in a translucent purple color scheme.
Generation 1 Figure-Collection
- Soundwave (2003)
- Japanese ID number: C-3
- Accessories: Display base
- At only one inch in height, this Soundwave "bottlecap" figurine (so named because its display base is the size of a bottlecap) was one of fourteen blindpacked figures available in Kabaya's Transformers Generation 1 Figure-Collection. The figure was rendered in a "retro" black and white color scheme, and came with a leaflet, personalized with cartoon screen captures.
History Collection
- Soundwave (2004)
- Accessories: Display base
- Takara produced this PVC figurine of Soundwave as part of their History Collection set. Despite its diminutive size, this two-piece full-color figure features articulated shoulders.
Palisades
- Soundwave (statue, 2004)
- This statue of Soundwave by Palisades Toys stands at 6" tall, and was limited to 2000 pieces worldwide. Palisades later released mini-statues of Laserbeak and Ravage which were scaled to fit with Soundwave; the Laserbeak statue was capable of perching on Soundwave's outstretched arm.
Titanium Series
- Soundwave (3" Robot Masters, unreleased)
- Accessories: Decepticon stand
- Soundwave was also planned to be released as a 3" Robot Masters non-transformable figurine, though it never saw release.
- Soundblaster (3" Robot Masters, unreleased)
- Accessories: Decepticon stand
- A 3" Soundblaster was also advertised on catalogues included with some of the last Titanium toys to be released, and was also canceled. In fact, this figure has never even been seen... but we feel pretty confident saying it would have been a redeco of the unreleased Soundwave figure.
Transformers - Wall Plaque
- Soundwave (Diamond Select, 2006)
- Released by Diamond Select Toys in 2006, Soundwave was sculpted by Art Asylum and limited to 1,000 pieces. He is seen emerging from the space bridge with Rumble, Laserbeak, and Ravage in tow. Despite the being solicited as a Wall Plaque this piece can not be placed on a wall in any way.
First 4 Figures
- Soundwave vs Jazz (
2006unreleased)
- Known designers: Little IroN (concept artist), "Mad" Alterton (sculptor)
- Intended for release in the Transformers Battlefield line by model company First 4 Figures, this was to be 13-inch-ish tall diorama depicting Soundwave fighting against Jazz. According to a look at the digital sculpt afforded to the toy news press at New York Toy Fair in 2006, the set featured Soundwave holding Jazz above his head, about to throw him down onto the trashed form of Blaster at his feet.[1]
- As a Battlefield release, this model would have featured a detailed base designed to interlock with others in the same range to create a massive battle diorama. Unfortunately, a general discontinuation of First 4 Figures' Transformers-related output meant only the first model, "Optimus Prime vs Megatron", was released.
- All models in the Battlefield line were advertised as being sculpted by "Mad" Alterton, with a corresponding set of art posters by Little IroN, implying he had produced the concept art for each release. The set was likely intended to be limited to 1,850 pieces worldwide, given that the certificate of authenticity for the first set allowed buyers to reserve the same numbered release on their next purchase in the series.
Transformers - Mini Bust
- Soundwave (Diamond Select, 2007)
- Released by Diamond Select Toys in 2007, Soundwave was sculpted by Mark Wong of Art Asylum and limited to 1,000 pieces. The sculpt features both his concussion blaster gun and shoulder cannon with Laserbeak perched on his left shoulder. His tape deck altmode is sculpted on the base of the bust.
- Sound Blaster (Diamond Select, 2008)
- Released by Diamond Select Toys in 2008, Sound Blaster was sculpted by Mark Wong of Art Asylum, limited to 1,000 pieces. He comes with Ratbat perched on his shoulder, and a scale version of Frenzy in tape mode that can be freely removed. This is Sound Blaster's first North American release. His name has been changed from "Soundblaster" to "Sound Blaster".
- His Tech Spec contains some interesting new information, notably that his body was reconstructed using technology stolen from Nebulos and his shoulder cannon is now an "electric launcher" capable of firing charged particles at 38,000 volts. His tech spec stats are STR 10 INT 7 SPD 8 END 10 RNK 9 CRG 10 FBL 10 SKL 8 and are completely different from the ones on his original Japanese release. His motto reads "Volume the same, destructive power doubled."
Robot Heroes
- Bumblebee & Soundwave (Two pack, 2007)
- Known designers: Bill Rawley (Hasbro), Marcelo Matere (concept artist)
- Robot Heroes Soundwave is a soft-plastic figurine sculpted in a super deformed style, with joints at his head and shoulders (although his shoulder cannon prevents his big head from turning to the right). He came in a two-pack with Bumblebee.
- Soundwave (Single-pack, 2008)
- In some countries outside of North America, Soundwave was released individually in a blindpack with no notable changes.
Sota Toys
- Transformers Chess Set (
2007)
- Two identical Soundwave pieces were to be the Decepticon-side Bishops on a chess set based on Generation 1, but the set apparently never saw release. Laserbeak and Ravage were included in Soundwave's sculpting.
Boss Coffee
- Soundwave (2008)
- A non-transforming PVC figure of Soundwave was released as part of a promotion by Boss Coffee. The small figure was randomly included with single cans of the company's "Rainbow Mountain Blend" coffee, contained in a plastic capsule affixed to the top of can which then became a display base for the figurine once removed. Soundwave features articulation at the shoulders and waist, and came with a small catalog leaflet that could be folded up and attached to the lid/base to form a diorama background for added display value.
Attacktix
- Soundwave (Booster, unreleased)
- Part of a planned second series of Transformers Attacktix boosters, Soundwave was to be a 30-point "Leader" class piece.
- Laserbeak
- Attacktix Laserbeak is a 10-point Trooper-type piece featuring a firing missile launcher on his back. The piece's base is shaped like Soundwave's arm, where Laserbeak rests while not in use. He is attached to the arm with a string, allowing him to take flight and get better shots at enemy pieces.
- While Hasbro showed off Laserbeak at some conventions, he was ultimately never released. Most of his in-game stats and abilities are as such unknown.
Mighty Muggs
- Soundwave (2009)
- Accessories: Gun
- This super-deformed, non-transformable Soundwave figure uses the standard Mighty Muggs body template, with swivel joints in his neck and arms. His colors are based on those of his original toy, including yellow eyes and even having a painted "screw" behind his head, and he comes with a super-deformed version of his concussion blaster.
- Soundwave (2019)
- ID number: 09
- Styled after his evergreen design, this new Soundwave came in the second wave of the line's 2018 relaunch. Pressing down on his helmet will skip to his next face. Three are on the playlist: classical, alt rock, and blues.
G.I. Joe and the Transformers
- Shockwave H.I.S.S. Tank with two figures & Energon (2012)
- An exclusive release for San Diego Comic-Con 2012, this box set contains a redeco of the 2012 new-mold G.I. Joe: Retaliation HISS tank meant to represent Shockwave, along with the Cobras Destro and a "Constructicon B.A.T." with a trolley for carrying Energon cubes.
- Destro's accessories include Soundwave in the form of a non-transforming tape deck and three "Mini-Con Deployers" – micro-cassettes capable of being placed within the Soundwave toy. The toy's press release identifies the tapes as Laserbeak, Ravage, and Ratbat, but since all three sport the sculpted details of the original Laserbeak toy and are colored solid red, gold, and orange, just who is meant to be who is unclear.
- Scarlet vs Zartan & Autobot Powerglide vs Soundwave (2016)
- Accessories: two rocket launchers with rockets, two missile launchers, four missiles, two nose guns
- Exclusive to the Hasbro Toy Shop booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 and the Hasbro Toy Shop website, Soundwave is a recolor of a 2005 version of the Cobra HISS tank vehicle done up in traditional a Soundwave motif. It features four firing missiles, rotating turret, an opening cockpit, and opening sides to fit figures inside. Exclusive to this release of the vehicle are non-firing rocket launchers that resemble G1 Soundwave's iconic battery-weapons.
- The set also includes a redeco of an equally non-transforming Cobra Rattler colored as Powerglide and figures of G.I. Joe characters Scarlett and Zartan.
Titan Warriors
- Titan Warrior 5-Pack (2013)
- Available at San Diego Comic-Con 2013, this Soundwave is a 6" PVC Titan Warriors figure (similar to Bandai's Ultra/Sentai/Rider Hero, Movie Monster Series) with articulated arms. He was packed with Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Megatron and Starscream.

- Accessories: Collector's base
- A super-deformed Soundwave was released among the blindpacked Thrilling 30 Collectible Figurines by Goldie Marketing. He comes with a base to help him stand, a collector's card that doubles as a puzzle piece, and a checklist.

Tiny Titans
- Soundwave (Tiny Titans, 2015)
- Series: 2
- Number: 6/12
- Part of the second assortment of Tiny Titans blindpacks, this version of Soundwave is a very small, soft-plastic figure of him in robot mode.
- He includes a collectible card that renders him in the 2015 Robots in Disguise styling. The card includes a scan-badge for the Robots in Disguise mobile game, which unlocks a random amount of Energon "currency" and a randomized bonus power-up item.
- This wave saw fairly minimal release at "big box" retailers, but unlike other waves, was not picked up by drug stores and the like later, making them particularly hard to find.
Metal Earth
- Soundwave (2015)
- ID number: MMS302

My Busy Books
- Transformers: My Busy Book (2017)
- Soundwave is represented by a pair of small, non-transforming PVC figurines, one an evergreen-styled robot and the other an SUV with non-functional wheels. He (They?) came as part of a set of 12 figurines included with a 10-page board book and a playmat featuring a destroyed city and Cybertron.
- For whatever reason, Soundwave's alt mode figurine is not included with the Brazilian edition of the book.
Kidrobot
Enamel Pin Series
- Soundwave (November 3, 2017)
- Rarity: 1 in 20
- Released by Kidrobot in their Enamel Pin Series, this is a flat, enamel pin badge of Soundwave inspired by the art of Tom Scioli's Transformers vs. G.I. Joe, albeit with cutesy proportions. The pin series was blindboxed, with some pins being rarer than others.
Vinyl Mini Series
- Soundwave (November 14, 2017)
- Rarity: 1 in 24
- The same character design was reused for the Vinyl Mini Series, with Soundwave receiving a three-inch tall, blindboxed figurine retaining the vibrant colours and exaggerated proportions. Soundwave featured articulation in each shoulder, and also deviated from the standard body design for this series by including his cannon on his right shoulder.
Prime 1 Studio
- Soundwave & Laserbeak (
201?)
- Prime 1 Studio Premium Masterline Soundwave was going to be a huge robot mode statue with a very stylized design and would probably feature LED lights on its eyes. A non-transforming Laserbeak in bird mode was going to be included as well, but the pair never saw release. The Soundwave artwork has yet to be fully revealed.
Imaginarium Art
- Soundwave (2018)
- Imaginarium Art's Soundwave statue stands 32 inches tall and features light-up eyes. Though it is a statue, the set includes alternate heads and arms to change Soundwave's posture and whether he is holding his concussion blaster. The set also features attachment points for the included Ravage, Laserbeak, Rumble, and Ratbat. Only 200 were produced.
Keshi Surprise
- Decepticons (2018)
- The Keshi Surprise series by Super7 consisted of 1.75" soft rubber figures in a style deliberately resembling the 1980s Decoys. ReAction
- Def Jam X Soundwave (2019)

- Originally available from Super 7 and NTWRK at the 2019 ComplexCon, this figure is redeco of the standard ReAction Soundwave (below) in shades of light gray featuring branding from Def Jam Recordings, celebrating the record label's 35th anniversary. Oddly, Super 7 announced the figure's existence with a tweet after ComplexCon had already come and gone. However, NTWRK made it available again later that week, along with other merchandise for Def Jam's 35th anniversary.

He comes with a concussion blaster which can only be held in his right hand.
- As with all releases in the ReAction toyline, Jazz comes packaged on a small cardback that emulates the nostalgic packaging style of Kenner's Star Wars action figures from the late 1970s to early '80s.
- In late 2024, this figure was reissued with no obvious changes, now in a blindpacked box assortment.
- Soundblaster (2020)
- Accessories: Concussion blaster

- Accessories: Concussion blaster, torso plate, Laserbeak cassette
- Super Cyborg Soundwave is a non-transforming figure released by Super7, standing 11 inches tall and featuring 7 points of articulation. Its key distinguishing feature is a removable torso plate that exposes the detailed sculpted mechanical workings of the character's innards - not just the expected non-transforming Laserbeak cassette but also all sorts of diodes, transistors, and additional tape reels.
- Soundwave (Clear) (2020)
- Accessories: Concussion blaster, torso plate, Laserbeak cassette

- Super Cyborg Soundwave was redecoed in black as Soundblaster, now featuring a cassette that was labeled as "Ratbat" even though it is clearly the Laserbeak sculpt.
R.E.D. [Robot Enhanced Design]
- Soundwave (2020)
- Accessories: Concussion Blaster, cassette tape, 2 alternate hands, shoulder-mounted cannon, backpack
- Known designers: Emiliano Santalucia (concept artist), Dennis Chan (sculptor)
- Released as part of the first wave of the Transformers R.E.D. line, Soundwave is a non-transforming 6-inch action figure akin to the ones from the Marvel Legends and Star Wars The Black Series lines. He is highly articulated and features extensive paint operations in an attempt to re-create
a Google Images search's best guess athis appearance in the show.
- Soundwave includes a number of accessories. He features two pairs of interchangeable hands: a set of two closed fists, a right hand to hold his included Concussion Blaster, and a left hand posed with his index finger out to press his eject button. Speaking of which, his eject button actually depresses, opening his translucent cassette door; his cassette tape accessory, which is sculpted and coloured like Laserbeak, can store inside his chest. Soundwave's shoulder-mounted cannon, attached by a swivel joint, is advertised as an accessory and can be removed, though it has no handle to be held like a gun. Oddly, his backpack (i.e. his cassette mode battery compartment) is also an accessory according to his product description; it can be removed and just... set aside, we guess.
- As with all R.E.D. toys, Soundwave was a Walmart exclusive in Canada and the United States, and was later made available on Hasbro Pulse in limited quantities.

- Accessories: 2 alternate heads, 2 fists, 2 gripping hands, 2 trigger hands, 2 open palm hands, flat right hand, pointing left hand, shoulder cannon, concussion blaster, battery cover, energon cube, Laserbeak cassette, Soundwave cassette-player mode
- ULTIMATES! Soundwave is a 7-inch-tall action figure based on his cartoon model. He features multi-directional joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles; plus swivel biceps, elbows, knees, and a bit of ab crunch. His hands pop out at the wrists so they can be replaced with his additional spare hands in different poses. He includes his usual handheld and shoulder-mounted weapons, as well as 2 alternate heads: one based closely around the G1 toy, the other based on his appearance in the G1 Marvel comics (complete with a mouth!). Replicating a feature of the original Soundwave toy, this figure's backpack has a "battery compartment" that can store both of his weapons. He also includes a small representation of his own tape player mode, as well as a Laserbeak cassette that can be stored in his chest door.

- ULTIMATES! Soundwave was repackaged as a "Transformers Deluxe" figure, physically identical to the first release but now lacking all accessories except the shoulder cannon and cassette. Its new packaging resembles a VHS clamshell box; specifically, the colors and trade dress strongly resemble the Video Gems tapes, while the character artwork and subtitle are taken directly from the Kid Rhino tapes. It was exclusive to Amazon.com.
Flame Toys
- Released as part of Flame Toys' Furai Model line of Gunpla-style model kits, "Sound Wave" is an articulated, non-transforming, Voyager Class-sized Gunpla-style model kit, using parts made of hard ABS plastic. He also comes with an equally non-transforming Ravage.
- For straight-assembly builders, Sound Wave features a sheet of foil stickers for detail (notably the shoulder insignias), though the kit can be panel-lined and touched-up with several panel-lining and paint markers (water/acrylic-based markers are recommended, as alcohol-based markers like Gundam Markers can potentially damage the ABS plastic). If one desires; the kit's pieces, aside from the translucent parts, can be fully coated with spray paints to recreate the finished sample seen in the stock photos.
