The Twilight is a Cybertronian starship from the Marvel Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Was the stinger tail really necessary?

The Twilight is the flagship and home to Jhiaxus, the Liege Centuro of the Cybertronian Empire. Though it's said to hover like a vast, predatory bird, it actually looks a lot more like a scorpion. Pick a menacing animal and stick to it, Twilight.

The Twilight is crewed by Rook and legions of later generation Decepticons.

Marvel Generation 2 comic

The Twilight was billions of lightyears from the Milky Way galaxy traveling through the K-Tor Cluster when Rook reported to Liege Centuro Jhiaxus that the exo-structuring party on Outpost B-67 had been attacked and destroyed by Autobots. The Twilight flew Jhiaxus's forces to one of the eco-structured worlds when Optimus Prime, Grimlock, and other Autobots were investigating. The ship opened fire on the planet. Overwhelmed by the barrage, the Autobots were taken captive without much resistance and faced Jhiaxus, who informed them that he was remaking all inhabited worlds in the universe in the image of Cybertron. Prime and Grimlock broke out of their cell, freed the other Autobots, raided the Twilight armory and stole away on shuttles from its hangar. War Without End!

Later, after a vicious battle with the Autobots revealed the existence of a rage-inducing parasite, Jhiaxus ordered his crew to use the Twilight's weapons to destroy the parasite. Primal Fear!

Grimlock took a complement of Autobots to clandestinely invade the Twilight using a stolen maintenance scow named Kiro, under cover of bringing duetrillium to repair the hull, and blow it to bits. Unfortunately, Jhiaxus saw through the deception and took Grimlock's crew by force, killing Red Alert in the process. Devices and Desires!

Above Earth, Jhiaxus ordered the Twilight into battle against the Starscream-possessed Warworld, ignoring a subordinate's suggestion to retreat. When Optimus Prime contacted the ship to warn Jhiaxus of the Swarm threat, the Liege Centuro responded by firing the Twilight' weapons randomly on the surface of Earth. The first barrage completely destroyed San Francisco. Under the influence of the Creation Matrix, Starscream turned the Warworld's weapons against the Twilight in order to save the planet. The Twilight met its demise when it and Jhiaxus were consumed by the Swarm. A Rage in Heaven!
