From Transformers Wiki
Prime writers
I hope I'm not bothering but, who is going to write the new episodes in TFP? Joybells 09:57, 15 October 2012 (EDT)Joybells
- In response to your question, we only find out the writers for specific epiodes of Transformers Prime once the episodes air, so there's no way of predicting upcoming writers. Jalaguy 12:55, 15 October 2012 (EDT) Duplicated from User talk: Joybells
Thanks for helping me with that question though. I'll just wait.Joybells 23:27, 15 October 2012 (EDT)Joybells
Constructicon shovel
Hi, welcome to TFWiki. Whilst your enthusiasm is appreciated, step by step transformation images isn't something we do, not least because it'd clutter up pages. Additonally, when uploading images, please use JPEGs instead of PNGs, as they take up less space.Jalaguy 12:44, 8 December 2012 (EST) Duplicated from User talk: Constructifan
- I understand, but I made more images of the Constructicon shovel from TF2 ROTF and I planned to upload them to that page.--Constructifan 12:48, 8 December 2012 (EST)
- Ok, I'll try my best. :)--Constructifan 12:49, 8 December 2012 (EST)
Now what? I just started adding jpg images and you go ahead and take them off. (sigh) Why?--Constructifan 13:49, 8 December 2012 (EST)
- What I said about the wiki not doing anything like step-by-step transformations still stands. With the images, I meant for future reference. Jalaguy 14:14, 8 December 2012 (EST)
Predacon bird
Do you know anything of the "Predacon bird"? Where can I find a picture of it?Transfan 1992 19:10, 11 December 2012 (EST)
- Beyond advising searching the internet for the Car Robot episode in question, I'm afraid I can't help. Sorry. Jalaguy 19:36, 11 December 2012 (EST)

Hey, if they're a new user who's spamming right away, feel free to block them and delete all of their content. We can always revert if it was a mistake, and the rest of us play a zero-tolerance game with the spammers. Thanks for your help!--McFly 15:48, 18 January 2013 (EST)
- I can blank their spam pages, sure, but I can't block them, don't have sysops... Jalaguy 15:53, 18 January 2013 (EST)

- I wasn't around back then, but it seems wiki policy on article names has changed in the meantime. I vaaaaaguely recall there being a big 'add Transformers back into titles' initiative from a while back. Jalaguy 16:25, 28 May 2013 (EDT)

Thanks
I know I uploaded an image with an unusual file name. I saw the picture and decided to save it on my computer. Then I realized that the name had numbers and I didn't change the it. My mistake. I'm sorry. Movie09 08:01, 29 May 2013 (EDT)

Just to point out... "Ditto" is fine if you're looking at Recentchanges on the day the edit's made (and you don't have the "Enhanced" RC turned on), but look at the history of the individual page: http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/index.php?title=Darksteel_(Prime)&action=history - SanityOrMadness 14:34, 19 July 2013 (EDT)

Meansor in Shockpoint
Right, I know the issue is set a couple AFTER Menasor's creation, however surely they still shouldn't have holograms of him because they left before he was made and so, assuming nobody contacted them, they should be oblivious to the happenings on earth. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Drift1998 (talk • contribs).
- Well, there's no reason to assume that they weren't in contact with any of the Decepticons on Earth. And if making an assumption creates an error, then it probably isn't a correct assumption. Megatron's internal monologue in #7 even seems to indicate that he's aware of the Autobots allying themselves with humans, so there's that, too. Jalaguy 04:45, 13 October 2013 (EDT)
- It's also a recent addition to continuity and possibly the product of an error, but things now suggest that Skywarp made it from Eath to the asteroid, so he could have brought that info with him too. - Chris McFeely 06:25, 13 October 2013 (EDT)
Tense
I noticed that while editing, and I did try to keep it in past tense. Apparently it wasn't quite enough.
Understandable
After editing the entire Beast Hunters and you editing it to chop a part of (the reception section), I read the file history and understand what you are going with, so thus perhaps one day when the figures are officially released then we'll talk about the reception proper (besides, I did it after analyzing the forms and other reviewers and thus coming to conclusion that it had to be done).

Sorry
My apologies for not being a very productive member of this community lately, I guess I got a little carried away. Just wanted you to know. Thank you, though, because I, myself was beggining to consider how much I could have been contributing rather than goofing off. Also, I'm kind of new to the whole chat thing, so if I'm doing it wrong I apologize (again)-WaffleZ, 7:08, June 30, 2014

Double User Pic
Thank you for telling me that, I wanted to combine them into one photo but I don't how. Would you happen to know how to? --TheHappyTruckShunter (talk) 20:24, 12 August 2014 (EDT)
- If you have access to Microsoft PowerPoint, a quick method is to open a new presentation, paste the two photos in and arrange them next to each other, select both images at once by holding CTRL and clicking them both, and then finally right-clicking them and choosing 'Save as picture'. Otherwise, you can use a basic image editor like MS Paint - drag the corner handle to make the white image area really big, paste in the photos and arrange them, and then drag the image area smaller again to fit around them before saving. Jalaguy (talk) 03:47, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
- Thank you so much! Yes, I do have access to Microsoft PowerPoint, and I tried your advice. It worked! Thank You.
P.S: Remember my edits on "Dinobot (AOE)"? I have the links of the Slash, Slog, and Snarl's concept art. I'll post them in about half an hour or two. --TheHappyTruckShunter (talk) 20:09, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
Camrips
Thanks for clarifying the issue of camrips. However, when I checked up on the images guidelines it seems a bit unclear about cam rips. Should a statement about these cam rips be added? Thanks. Also this applies even for imageless characters, right? Optimus Prime (Convoy) (talk) 08:59, 27 August 2014 (EDT)
- Yeah, the wiki avoids anything illegal (camrips, stolen pre-release toy samples, etc.) regardless of circumstances. I'll update the image policy a little for clarification. Jalaguy (talk) 09:15, 27 August 2014 (EDT)
Thanks a lot! Optimus Prime (Convoy) (talk) 09:27, 27 August 2014 (EDT)
Help please?
Can you use your mod powers to fix StarWars Jedi's whole mess of movements? I can't work them.
Also Walky said no to the Universe thing, so could you move it back to (Universe 2008)? I can't get it working. Escargon (talk) 08:47, 30 August 2014 (EDT)
- SWJ's stuff is sorted, but what specific articles are we talking about with regards to (Universe 2008)? Jalaguy (talk) 08:56, 30 August 2014 (EDT)
- He means the Universe Mini-Con, but that's already at a page that actually takes account of Willis's... objection. The discussion was with respect to further moves. - SanityOrMadness (talk) 08:59, 30 August 2014 (EDT)
Micro Fun-Pack comics.
Do you have all of these? I saw you did Spotlight: Shockwave's, and wondered. Escargon (talk) 17:52, 30 August 2014 (EDT)
- Drift is actually the only one I own, but the back of the poster shows you the stickers, etc. for all the other packs. The only stuff I don't know is the covers in the back of the Optimus and 'Bee books (I found them out for Grimlock by asking around). Jalaguy (talk) 17:58, 30 August 2014 (EDT)
Question on Yuki Ohshima
I'm sorry if this was already declared somewhere and I didn't see it, but why can't pervert be used on the page? Is that too snarky? I would think considering the content of Kiss Players that would be acceptable.1MegaMan10 (talk) 12:48, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
- Firstly, it's possible to overdo it - the wiki's already swimming in 'lololol Kiss Players is peverted' jokes - and secondly, we ask that new users spend time making factual edits before adding captions/humour, to avoid this place becoming TFjokes.net rather than TFwiki.net. Thanks! Jalaguy (talk) 13:07, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
- Okay, I understand. I really just signed up to revert to that old joke I saw years ago. If it's unacceptable, eh whatevs. I really don't do a good job adding anything ever, so I'll just lurk. Thanks for the work you put into this fantastic wiki.1MegaMan10 (talk) 13:29, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
On an unrelated note. Is there a way to change my username/delete my account?1MegaMan10 (talk) 14:29, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
- I'm afraid I'm not very clued up on the technical end of wiki things. You might try asking one of the other admins, like User:Abates. Jalaguy (talk) 15:20, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
Thanks
Thanks for fixing the image I added :) Combaticons4ever (talk) 08:56, 9 September 2014 (EDT)
- No problem! In future, if you're having trouble wrapping your head around image templates (I don't blame you!), an easy solution is to find an image from a similar source, (another issue of MTMTE, in this case), copy the code from there, and then go through and change the little details like issue number, title, etc. Jalaguy (talk) 09:02, 9 September 2014 (EDT)
Termination Diamond?
Do you have the Diamond edition of Termination? If so, is there any additional information in Thundercracker's (or anybody else') bio that can be added to the page? Escargon (talk) 19:38, 3 October 2014 (EDT)
- Yeah, there's some worthwhile tidbits in the bios. I'll try and update articles accordingly if I get time this weekend. Jalaguy (talk) 19:44, 3 October 2014 (EDT)
attention deflector
"Welcome (belatedly) to the wiki! You wound up redirecting your attention deflector article to the Main Page somehow, so I fixed it for you. Jalaguy (talk) 08:19, 11 October 2014 (EDT)"
Thanks for the welcome. However the redirect was entirely intentional. It's an attention deflector, it's meant to divert your attention away from the page! SleepIsTheBrotherOfDeath (talk) 08:54, 11 October 2014 (EDT)
- Ah, okay, I see, but the redirect prevents you from actually reading the page without going in to edit it, so it's not really feasible. Jalaguy (talk) 10:15, 11 October 2014 (EDT)
are you the boss of this site?

I need some help. How do you add character boxes? User:Warpath1251lWarpath1251 (User talk:Waroath1251)
Why?
Comedy is my life, and delete my works. Whenever I try to add something factual, some other guy beats me to it. The only things I can do is edit captions. Plus the steeljaw joke I wrote is way better then the other stupid caption. Warpath is the one who sent this message.
- This is the Transformers Wiki, first and foremost, not the Transformers Funny Image Captions Website. Being funny is a perk and side-effect of adding factual information, not something to do instead of adding factual information. And by changing existing captions, you're deleting something written by a user who actually put work into the article. If you genuinely think a caption isn't very good, you can bring it up on the article talk page and see if other people agree, but you can't justify overwriting stuff just because you personally don't like what's there. Jalaguy (talk) 14:18, 24 January 2015 (EST)
Well then how bout we get rid of stinking funny captions. Warpath sent this message

Could you also delete "Bombshell (RID)" (would be at "Hardshell (Prime)", anyway), "Shrapnel (RID)" (wrong spelling and would be at Sharpshot), and "Lockdown (RID)". (Along with "Adams (RID)" and "Adams (G1)", I guess.) StarWars Jedi made them a while ago, but nobody noticed. Saix (talk) 17:21, 14 March 2015 (EDT)

Background Decepticons
Seeing that the vehicons, insectiocn etc seen in metal meltdown, are decepticons on the Alchemor, and are lart of Glowstrikes group, would it not makes sense to keep them on the page? junkheap117 (talk)
- They appear, but are basically just decoration for the scene - they don't serve as characters in any real way. They don't need to go on the main article's cast list for the same reason that crowdfillers like, say, Lickety-Split and Bumper don't go on Animated's cast list. Jalaguy (talk) 06:42, 20 March 2016 (EDT)
Is it okay if i chnage the remianing one character, that being windblade to a screen cap? i will also put the artwork in as well. - Junkheap117
RID2015 Fracture
You said that the artwork images were better than screen caps, so why did you rmove Fracture's, Drift's and Jazz's pictures? junkheap117 (talk)
- In this case, it was because they were (A) PNGs rather than JPGs, which was already mentioned to you, and (B) had a ton of whitespace around them which made them look daft in the articles. I didn't have the time to go around cropping them and reuploading them as JPGs, so I reverted so the articles aren't looking bad in the meantime. Jalaguy (talk) 15:53, 20 March 2016 (EDT)

What to do? (Transformers Online 2016)
Hey, the reason why I didn't link the characters' name to their G1 pages is cuz I'm deliberating on whether or not they need a separate page as a TFO profile page, which includes their character stats and weapons' stats. What do you think? The Seeker (talk) 01:03, 7 September 2016 (EDT)
- Separate pages shouldn't be necessary. It would be entirely fine to include stats in a bullet-pointed list or simple table in the section for TFO on each character's main article. Jalaguy (talk) 05:33, 7 September 2016 (EDT)
Ok. So I added roughly translated info to the section regarding Optimus's (movie version) appearance in TFO 2016 (on the games page of course). How can I cite this site? (http://tfol.qq.com/act/a20160726data/hero1.shtml) The Seeker (talk) 08:34, 7 September 2016 (EDT)
- I tidied up and added the reference to what you wrote - check it out for an example of how to add reference. As a note for future, you should generally try to avoid writing just a direct translation, and instead summarise the information a bit. Jalaguy (talk) 09:32, 7 September 2016 (EDT)
Hey, Jalaguy, remember when you told me not to do a direct translation of the Chinese information? I've done that for the story summaries of each character, and also for the weapons. However, my main concern is that Saix goes around correcting my roughly translated weapon page names to the direct Chinese translations, some of which are unappealing (such as a Cosmic "Shark" and "Fated Death") and would be better off with synonymous terms instead (to appeal to English speakers). What do you think? I just want to talk with you over about this b4 I address my concern to Saix. (Also, just so you know, I'm a bilingual Mandarin & English speaker behind the screen) The Seeker (talk) 16:08, 13 September 2016 (EDT)
- I don't usually work so much on foreign-language material, so I sought the opinion of some other editors, and the consensus seems to be it's better to keep to more literal translations for names of things (or even just transliterating it without doing any translation). Jalaguy (talk) 17:13, 13 September 2016 (EDT)
- I am not sure if we have a policy directly addressing this subject, but unappealing or not, it is not the role of the wiki to decide upon an arbitrary translation. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 20:09, 13 September 2016 (EDT)
- Well, I mean, we do do it all the time for Japanese episode titles. We even use our own translations over official ones. I share the concern Jim voiced on the Allspark of transliterated-Chinese articles names being spectacularly inaccessible. Jalaguy (talk) 20:13, 13 September 2016 (EDT)

National Toy Hall of Fame
Hey, the National Toy Hall of Fame has an online poll for the next toy to be added, and Transformers are on the list. Is that something that we'd be linking to somewhere on the wiki? "In Immatura" being the key to Red Alert Dream.
"In Immatura" was how it was written in the comic, not "on Immatura". And it is a reference to it being in Latin so the whole paranoid dream of Red Alert makes sense. Why did you cut the mention in the transformer references without transferring it elsewhere? It certainly has it's place on this wiki as much as the "head-on" reference! At least in one of the articles... either the planet or the comic itself. Since it was also cut in the article for the planet I'm beginning to wonder why do I even bother trying to be informative for the community. Xunk16 (talk) 21:54, 1 October 2016 (EDT)

So you are totally fine with attacking random people in the name of a community circlejerk when citing zero (0) sources, yet cannot take a mild attack or criticism?
Bravo, you autists. You sure showed me.
Furthermore, I never implied any of you were "SJWs". Seems like the ol' Freudian slip did the job for me though.
Remind me what's wrong with changing captions again? Is this not a wiki? Am I not allowed to change something so minor for the sake of making the humor more tolerable and less cringeworthy?
Jesus, why does such a good resource have to be run by such unbearable people?

Admins, Bots, etc.
Hey Jalaguy!
Just wanted to ask a question. What does it mean to be an administrator, bot, bureaucrat, check user, and/or oversight in regards to this wiki?
Also how would one become one of those things?
I'm just kind of confused.
Thanks. -west james/notirishman (talk) 10:53, 3 October 2017 (EDT)
- The only relevant ones are administrators, who have additional wiki management powers, such as deleting pages and blocking users, and bureaucrats, who have those same powers plus the ability to make other users into admins. There's no "way to become an admin", it's generally just a case of the site owner, Walky, promoting trusted, longtime editors, as and when the need arises. Jalaguy (talk) 15:21, 3 October 2017 (EDT)
- Ahh I see. Thanks for the answer. -west james/notirishman (talk) 16:01, 3 October 2017 (EDT)
Source Material
I don't fully understand when we should add the "Source Material" template? I also understand why it says we shouldn't add to the page, even though pages like Prime Master/Combinations or Audio logs are missing information? west james/notirishman (talk) 18:18, 13 November 2017 (EST)
- The source material template is generally for stuff that's a direct transcription of official material, as opposed to simply summarising it. We're writing down exactly what's the the collector cards, so that article is a collection of source material. Although the template was written with the assumption that it'd only go on completed articles, hence the "don't add to it" bit. You can safely ignore that for anything that's obviously a work in progress! Jalaguy (talk) 18:28, 13 November 2017 (EST)
- Oh, good. Thanks for the answer! west james/notirishman (talk) 15:47, 14 November 2017 (EST)
SG and G1
User:ShootingStar7X and I aren't really sure whether Abominus (G1) and Hun-Gurrr (G1) if they should keep the disambiguation on Shattered Glass. I say yes, while ShootingStar says no. What is your opinion on this? west james/notirishman (talk) 12:07, 23 November 2017 (EST)
- Beachcomber once had an unnecessary SG disambiguation on his page, but it has been removed as of 2015. I think Hun-Gurrr and Abominus should get the same treatment, for consistency.
- (Rewind also has an unnecessary SG disambiguation on his page, but in his case, it's pretty funny.) ShootingStar7X (talk) 12:35, 23 November 2017 (EST)
- There's nothing particularly significant about the SG versions of those characters - no reason a user would be more likely to be looking for them over any other alternate version of the character - so no, the links aren't really needed. Jalaguy (talk) 14:52, 23 November 2017 (EST)

Brainstorm main image
Hey - I kind of expected this to be reverted, but I'd like to explain my reasoning. Wiki policy states that "Characters often have multiple bodies, so the main image should generally be their original "real world" form, and as full-body as possible. (Exceptions may be made when a character is in a later form far longer and more prominently than their true "first".)" In this case, the original image is from Dreamwave's Generation 1 continuity; Brainstorm wasn't even mentioned in any of the Dreamwave comics, so I don't see why this would be the considered the original "real world" form. IDW Brainstorm is arguably the most prominent//influential incarnation of the character, so I think an exception can readily be made here. And if we're talking "original" form, then the ideal image would be his G1 box art or Marvel comics appearance, rather than some grainy, poorly-edited picture from a continuity he didn't even appear in. What do you think? Genitus (talk) 00:49, 30 September 2019 (EDT)
- Brainstorm appeared in the Marvel comic and in The Headmasters fairly prominently 30 years before he had any kind of regular showing in IDW's run. In any case, you're taking that rule far too literally. Brainstorm's Dreamwave art is an adequate representation of his original form (though personally I'd change it) and that's why it's used. Additionally, generally speaking, that bolded bit is generally untrue for Generation 1 characters, and really only applies to the Prime characters who also showed up in War for Cybertron.
