Hey, just before you go any further with adding back the links to the Japanese Beast Wars attacks and weapons, I suggest checking this out: Transformers Wiki talk:Community Portal#All those Takara BW-era-ish named weapon pages. As you can see it is currently up for debate on whether we really need those pages due to the lack of any new information, plus they don't have enough information from both the anime and manga sources to really record anyway, so full pages seem rather pointless at this point. Appreciated on the heads up. I was just going through the orphaned page list and seeing what I could easily knock out. But if those are going to go, no need to worry then. --ParadoxFactor (talk) 03:44, 17 April 2021 (EDT)

Replacing images

Hi there, I noticed you replaced some BotBots images recently, and although it is better to have original photos rather than stock photos, it's preferable that you replace the previous image using the same name for the file instead of creating a new one. I hope that's helpful for the next time you do it. --Fritz (talk) 23:47, 27 June 2021 (EDT)

I can't say I agree with that, partially because the BotBots images have had particularly atrocious, vague filenames. --M Sipher (talk) 00:00, 28 June 2021 (EDT)
I started uploaded some before I realized you had uploaded new images. I can do that in the future, but is replacing a stock image file with the custom file the best way to do so? Sipher is correct, naming is a bit vague for some. I just tried to copy the most common formatting of BotBot-toy (character name). If an existing is named in some other way would that cause confusion? ParadoxFactor (talk) 00:15, 28 June 2021 (EDT)
No, what you were doing was right. Abates pointed this out a while back: "When replacing stock images with user-taken images, it's better to delete the originals entirely because they're subject to copyright." --M Sipher (talk) 00:19, 28 June 2021 (EDT)
Ok good to know. For the stock image just add the typical deletion request and note it's a stock image being replaced I assume?ParadoxFactor (talk) 00:22, 28 June 2021 (EDT)
Yup! --M Sipher (talk) 00:24, 28 June 2021 (EDT)
That's a good point that I hadn't thought about. Well, living and learning, I guess! I apologize for any inconvenience. --Fritz (talk) 00:25, 28 June 2021 (EDT)
No inconvenience at all! It's good to all be on the same page. ParadoxFactor (talk) 00:27, 28 June 2021 (EDT)

BotBot stores

Gotta be honest, I'm not sure these need pages. They feel incredibly redundant with the pages for the individual tribes, only with less information. The lack of Proper Noun names ain't helping. Maybe once the show starts and things actually happen in/concerning the stores there might could be the justification for some individual pages rather than being rolled into the mall page, but even that feels... iffy. --M Sipher (talk) 17:45, 23 July 2021 (EDT)

Overall it just feels like BotBots in general is very under updated, and this was a good way to flesh the franchise representation on the wiki out. My planned next step was to expand fiction for the tribes and characters..It's true the series 4 and 5 stores have very little to work off of, since all they really have are tribe names, tribe bios, and potentially the tribe art and promo pictures. But it just feels like there are articles on the wiki with less then what we have here. It's true we don;t know what stores, if any, may appear in the series when it releases, but I figured it can;t hurt to have them here ready to go, and if they appear and are named, get them moved. I know I'm new, but given the feedback I got on the Discord group, it felt like these were worth adding, even with the slim info at the moment.ParadoxFactor (talk) 18:25, 23 July 2021 (EDT)
It's not "there are articles with less", it's that AND the redundancy with the tribe pages, which is the big problem. I think it's kinda obvious I'm a huge BotBots booster, so it's not like I'm against more BotBots work being done. But the question is if the end result of the work is useful for the readers. Shunting them to pages that really don't have any more info than what you'd get from the tribe's page (or could be added to said tribe's page in a sentence) and some speculation about the stores... isn't ideal. I think your "next step" of working on the characters' fiction sections is probably a better move for now, and the store-page issue can be addressed when there's more canon stuff to sort through about them. --M Sipher (talk) 18:55, 23 July 2021 (EDT)
Since the stickerbook had the location map for some of the stores, it made sense to me to do the stores separately. That's also part of the reason I used the promo images for representing the store pages, to show imagery not in most cases on the tribes page. That said I do get what your saying about the redundancy, especially with the series 4 and 5 stores that have no fiction or commercial appearances at all. Only the gym has made any sort of appearance with the Goldrush stop motion. Most of the series 1-3 made appearances in the Lost bots book, original commercial, or the comic (though that's going to be very difficult to get any real info on). With all that said, the last two I haven't done anything on were for the trophy store and vintage electronics, which don't even artwork (though I'm not even sure the trophy store exists). All the others, except for the 5 in my sandbox, are live. If they are to be removed, I'd recommend at least keeping the locations with the Lost Bots fiction and stickerbook maps, as those have the most info on them as locations.ParadoxFactor (talk) 19:23, 23 July 2021 (EDT)
