1961-yil 30-may, seshanba kuni Indiana shtatining Speedway shahridagi Indianapolis Motor Speedwayda 45-xalqaro Indianapolis 500 poygasi boʻlib oʻtdi. 1949-yildan beri birinchi marta Indianapolis 500 jahon chempionati taqvimidan chiqarib tashlandi.
