Alexander Robotnick is the nickname that Maurizio Dami adopted in the early 80s when he started producing electronic music. AR means Alexander the worker in Russian. In 1983 “Problèmes d’Amour”, a track he composed for Materiali Sonori/Fuzz Dance, an Italian Independent label, was an international hit and with time became a true “cult” of electronic dance music. Other hit tracks that have also received critical acclaim include "Les Grands Voyages de l'Amour" and "Dance Boy Dance". He also records as Italcimenti with Ludus Pinsky (Lapo Lombardi). In 2003 he started to DJ after the success of his compilation "The Disco Tech of...Alexander Robotnick" on Bob Sinclair's label Yellow Production. He has since started his own label Hot Elephant.
