The NC State Gaming and Esports Lab is located on the fourth floor of the Hunt Library. The NC State community can experience the thrill of competitive gaming, learn new skills and strategies, and connect with other gamers and enthusiasts using the 35 gaming PCs and 4 console stations. The lab supports the NC State Esports program and serves as an incubator for esports research, teaching, learning and student involvement.
Esports are electronic sports that involve playing video games, often at a high skill level. Many games involve intricate teamwork, and gameplay can be broadcast through livestreams on the web. Around the world, esports have a huge fan base and are a key part of the ever-growing gaming industry.
At the lab, you can:
- Play or watch some of the most popular esports games, such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, and Overwatch
- Access high-end gaming PCs with monitors and accessories optimized for competition
- Check out controllers and games to play on PlayStation, XBox, or Nintendo Switch stations
- Explore our gaming and esports workshops in areas such as game design, live streaming, getting started with gaming, and esports basics
The lab is open to NC State students, faculty, and staff who are interested in gaming at any level of experience or playstyle. The NC State Gaming and Esports Lab is a place where you can have fun, learn, and belong. Complete our online orientation to gain access to the space!
The Gaming and Esports Lab is staffed whenever it is open, meaning you can find drop-in consultation assistance for projects, technology, and more just by stopping by.

How do I reserve and access this space?
First time here?: To use the Gaming and Esports Lab and reserve workstations, you'll need to complete an online orientation.
Make a reservation: Twenty-one PCs and two console stations can be reserved by any student, faculty, or staff member who has completed this orientation. PC and console stations are reserved according to these guidelines.
Reserve for a club: Are you a club officer reserving for your club? One set of seven PCs and one console station are set aside for you. You can request workstations for your club.
Drop-in use: Don't have a reservation? That's okay! We have seven PCs and one console station set aside for drop-in use.

How do I get there?
Using Elevators
- Go through the library gates past Ask Us.
- Continue straight until you see the third or blue hallway to your right.
- Turn right into the hallway for the elevators.
- Take the elevators to the fourth floor.
- After leaving the elevator bay turn right
- Turn right again, and continue past the stairs.
- Turn right and the NC State Gaming and Esports Lab will be on your left.
Using Stairs
- Go through the library gates past Ask Us.
- Take the yellow stairs on your right to the third floor.
- Turn left and continue straight to the stairs.
- Take the stairs to the fourth floor.
- Turn right, then take another right.
- The NC State Gaming and Esports Lab will be on your left.
