James Douglas, 5th of Drumlanrig was the son of Sir William Douglas, 4th of Drumlanrig.1 He married Janet Scott, daughter of Sir David Scott, 1st of Buccleuch, in 1470.2 He died in 1498.1

John Montgomerie, Master of Eglinton was the son of Hugh Montgomerie, 1st Earl of Eglinton and Lady Helen Campbell.1 He married Elizabeth Edmonstone, daughter of Sir Archibald Edmonstone, 3rd of Duntreath and Janet Shaw, circa 1500.1 He died on 28 April 1520 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, killed in the streets, in an affray known as the 'Battle of the Cleanse the Causeway'.1

Hugh Montgomerie, 2nd Earl of Eglinton was the son of John Montgomerie, Master of Eglinton and Elizabeth Edmonstone.1 He married Mariot Seton, daughter of George Seton, 3rd Lord Seton and Lady Janet Hepburn, from 30 January 1530/31 to 8 February 1530/31.2 He died on 3 September 1546.1
He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Montgomerie [S., 1445] in June 1545.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Eglinton [S., 1507] in June 1545.1
