Thomas Knox1

     Thomas Knox was the son of Mark Knox and Helen Wilson.2 He married Elizabeth Spang, daughter of Andrew Spang, on 11 June 1640.1 He died in May 1685.1
     He was a merchant at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He had three other sons and seven daughters.1

Rt. Hon. Thomas Knox1

     Rt. Hon. Thomas Knox was the son of Thomas Knox and Elizabeth Spang.2 He married Mary Brice, daughter of Robert Brice.1 He died in 1728.1
     He was offered a peerage at the accession of King George I but declined.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dungannon, County Tyrone.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He purchased land in Dungannon, County Tyrone in 1692.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms as as male representative of the Knoxes of Ranfurley, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court as male representative of the Knoxes of Ranfurley on 15 July 1693.1
