William Hall Gage, 2nd Viscount Gage of Castle Island was born on 1 January 1718.1 He was the son of Thomas Gage, 1st Viscount Gage of Castle Island and Benedicta Maria Theresa Hall.1 He married Elizabeth Gideon, daughter of Sampson Gideon, on 3 February 1757.1 He died on 11 October 1791 at age 73, without surviving issue.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Seaford between 1744 and 1747.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Seaford between 1754 and 1780.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Gage of Castle Island, co. Kerry [I., 1720] on 21 December 1754.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Gage of Castlebar, co. Mayo [I., 1720] on 21 December 1754.2 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Gage, of Firley, co. Sussex [E., 1622] on 21 December 1754.1 He was created 1st Baron Gage of High Meadow, co. Gloucester [Great Britain] on 1 November 1790, with a special remainder to his nephew, Henry.1

Sir James Dalrymple of Cousland, 1st Bt. was the son of James Dalrymple, 1st Viscount of Stair and Margaret Ross.2,3 He married, firstly, Catherine Dundas, daughter of Sir James Dundas, Lord Arniston and Marion Boyd, on 2 January 1679.1 He married, secondly, Esther Cunningham, daughter of John Cunningham of Enterkin, on 4 September 1691.1 He married, thirdly, Jane Halkett on 7 September 1701.1 He died in May 1719.1
He held the office of Principal Clerk of the Court of Session.1 He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple, of Cousland [Nova Scotia] on 28 April 1698.2
