     Major Edward Stephen Gibbons was born on 18 June 1883.¹ He was the son of Sir William Gibbons and Sara Antoinetta Cholmeley.² He married Annie Macgregor Lyle, daughter of John Lyle, on 2 August 1914.¹ He died on 19 September 1918 at age 35, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the North-West Frontier in 1908.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Middlesex Regiment.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times and was seriously wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel in the Highland Light Infantry.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹

     Annie Macgregor Lyle was the daughter of John Lyle.² She married Major Edward Stephen Gibbons, son of Sir William Gibbons and Sara Antoinetta Cholmeley, on 2 August 1914.¹ She died on 22 March 1968.¹
     From 2 August 1914, her married name became Gibbons.

     Lt.-Cdr. John William Gibbons was born on 13 December 1917.¹ He was the son of Major Edward Stephen Gibbons and Annie Macgregor Lyle.² He married, firstly, Alix Lenox-Simpson, daughter of Bertram Lenox-Simpson, in April 1940.¹ He and Alix Lenox-Simpson were divorced in 1947.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Lammin Woof, daughter of G. E. Woof, in 1964.¹ He died in 1993.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.¹

     Bertram Lenox-Simpson lived at Guernsey, Channel Islands^G.¹

     Alix Lenox-Simpson is the daughter of Bertram Lenox-Simpson.² She married Lt.-Cdr. John William Gibbons, son of Major Edward Stephen Gibbons and Annie Macgregor Lyle, in April 1940.¹ She and Lt.-Cdr. John William Gibbons were divorced in 1947.¹
     From April 1940, her married name became Gibbons.

     Alan Clive Gibbons was born in 1941.¹ He is the son of Lt.-Cdr. John William Gibbons and Alix Lenox-Simpson.²

     Elisabeth Margaret Gibbons was born on 12 December 1915.¹ She is the daughter of Major Edward Stephen Gibbons and Annie Macgregor Lyle.² She married Lt.-Cdr. John Edgar Burstall, son of Captain John Burstall, on 19 March 1936.¹
     She was educated at Effingham House School, Sussex, England^G.¹ From 19 March 1936, her married name became Burstall. She lived in 2003 at The Garden House, Orcheston, Wiltshire, England^G.¹
