Lt.-Col. Thomas Holroyd Gibbon was born on 19 August 1915.1 He was the son of Thomas Holroyd Gibbon and Elizabeth Mary Cooper.2 He married Barbara Hope Austin, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Herbert Henry Austin, on 1 May 1941.1 He died on 11 November 2007 at age 92 at Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.3
He was educated at Blundell's School, Tiverton, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1935, in the service of the Royal Transport Corps.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches at Dunkirk and was wounded at El Alamein.1 He was an instructor between 1945 and 1947 at Staff College, Camberley, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Palestine Campaign in 1948.1 He fought in the Suez Campaign in 1956.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1956.1 He retired from the military in 1958, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Royal Tank Regiment.1 He was an Assistant Master between 1958 and 1969 at Ripley Court School, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He lived in 1976 at Field House, School Lane, Sutton, Pulborough, Sussex, EnglandG.1
