The Institute of Mathematics of Faculty II - Mathematics and Natural Sciences - as part of a technical university is application-oriented in research and teaching.
It offers the study programs Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Technomathematics (both Bachelor and Master) and Scientific Computing (Master only) as well as extensive mathematics services for students of other study programs.

This includes information on courses and the available degree programmes. You will also find detailed information on the examination boards and the Mathematics Service, which is offered for degree programmes outside of mathematics.

Exzellenzcluster MATH+

The Institute of Mathematics is home to the Berlin Mathematics Research Centre MATH+, which is funded as part of the Excellence Strategy. MATH+ is a cross-institutional and interdisciplinary cluster of excellence for application-driven mathematical research with social relevance.

Berlin Mathematical School (BMS)

MATH+ builds on the success stories of the Berlin Mathematical School (BMS) and Matheon. The BMS will be further developed by MATH+ as a graduate school. Matheon lives on in the MATH+ application areas.

In addition to the TU Berlin, the institutes of mathematics at the FU and HU Berlin as well as WIAS and ZIB are involved in MATH+.

Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR 109

Various groups and scientists from TU Berlin, TU Munich, FU Berlin, TU Graz and TU Vienna are working on the topic of "Discretisation in Geometry and Dynamics" in the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre 109. TU Berlin is the host university.

DFG funding expired at the end of June 2024.

Mathematics Library

The Maths Library offers attractive study spaces on the campus of the TU Berlin at student-friendly opening hours. It is a major provider of literature for students, scientists and their guests interested in mathematics and is located on the 1st floor of the MA building.

IT-Services

The IT department of the Institute of Mathematics is responsible for IT in the workgroups and reseach areas, in the institute and faculty administration and in the other facilities of the institute. The department is also responsible for the IT support of the Unix PC pool and the HPC cluster area of Faculty II.
