Disambiguation

[edit]
Perth, Australia is incorrect, there is also Perth, Tasmania - it should be Perth, Western Australia. sats (talk) 16:18, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is even two Perth, Western Australia. But it doesn't matter, the label should be just Perth anyhow. -- Lavallentalk(block) 16:57, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That is how it is found in wp en - for reasons of edit wars about primacy
In proper context it should be Perth - with a qualifier or context where Australia is not used, but Western Australia sats (talk) 00:17, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The statement tells: located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) Western Australia (Q3206) and country (P17) Australia (Q408).
If the English article should be 'Perth, Australia' or 'Perth, Western Australia' or only 'Perth' is a matter for the community on enwp to deside. Even if it affects the edithistory here, it is primary a subject to discuss on enwp. Each wiki have to make their own choise in this matter. -- Lavallentalk(block) 06:50, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I understand that very clearly, I thought it is worth qualifying the issue here - for the record - as some language wikis (not wp en) have Perth, Australia - which by what we have been discussing - is incorrect. sats (talk) 08:49, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if they have no article about 'Perth, Tasmania', it's not a problem. And even if they have an article about Perth, Tasmania, they may think that the West Astralia-article have notability-advantage to the Australia-separator. It's their choise.
I recently created an article about Lindö in Norrköping Municipality. Another Lindö is also located in Norrköping Municip, but is much much larger (4918 inhabitants compared to 51). I let the larger locality keep the "Lindö, Norrköping Municipality"-name, since I expect other users to find it under the Municipality-separator. -- Lavallentalk(block) 09:11, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
interestingly the issue creeps into commons - there are photos of perth, tasmania in commons, and vistors to perth western australia have taken photos and put perth australia on the photos - so clarification is needed... sats (talk) 09:36, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Following on the conversation aboe, an AKA - is the incorrect usage of Perth, Australia - it is often found on images taken by tourists on commons and on the net in general. I dont agree with its usage, but as an aka - it should be there. sats (talk) 12:54, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Flag and Coats of arms

[edit]

Just noting that my edits today [1][2] removed properties flag image (P41) and coat of arms image (P94), because those values were for City of Perth (Q1855330), not this item. - Evad37 [talk] 06:22, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

And again today [3] (reverting [4] by User:Amadalvarez) - Evad37 [talk] 11:47, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Evad37: Thanks, if it is wrong. May you change by the right one ?. Amadalvarez (talk) 21:24, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've added explicit "no value" statements to indicate explicitly that there is no actual value for these properties (as opposed to them being missing from an incomplete item). - Evad37 [talk] 23:40, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Website

[edit]

The City of Perth's website would be https://perth.wa.gov.au/en, no? Tauin (talk) 07:01, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
