I recently removed the claim that "esclavagismo" Symphiles (Q10274273) was different from "slavery". @MisterSynergy: you restored the claim. Checking a Portuguese dictionary I find that esclavagismo is the *same* as slavery ( here, for one example). Checking the Portuguese Wikipedia article cited for the wikidata item, I find that:
- the article is "marked for review due to inconsistencies or data of questionable reliability".
- the article itself says: Man is or was once a slave, taking advantage of the work of human slaves.
which is not *different from* slavery.
As a result of these elements, I think it is wrong to state that "esclavagismo" is different from "slavery". It appears to instead be a novel use of language which claims domestication and parasitism are slavery. As it pertains to intra-species relations among organisms humans (as defined by the label)... it appears to be the same as "slavery".

- You can use said to be the same as (P460) instead of different from (P1889) if you think this is more appropriate. The quality of the ptwiki article does not matter here. —MisterSynergy (talk) 14:14, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think we need to link the two terms at all, as the concept is neither strictly identical nor different in all aspects. Symphiles (Q10274273) is basically a provocative use of terminology, for which I'm not finding any scholarly consensus. (searches for esclavage biologie and biology slavery don't turn up anything related). In Portuguese I'm only finding pages that may well be derived from the Portuguese wikipedia entry (Citogenesis (Q18614873)). SashiRolls (talk) 14:35, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
